Mineral spirits are great for thinning oleoresinous paints, enamels, and varnishes. Mineral spirits can be used for cleaning paint tools, brushes, rollers, sprayers, and buckets. Low odor, purest grade, general mineral solvent from Recochem.
Important: Although mineral spirits are generally less caustic, toxic and flammable than turpentine, care must be taken when using. Use mineral spirits in a well ventilated area and keep away from children.

I am looking for something to clean up varnish droppings on the fiberglass of my boat. No matter how we prep we always find dropped varnish drops Will this product help?
I believe you will have better success using a Varnish Remover/Stripper.
after stripping the wooden table top down to the wood, can mineral spirits be used to clean the table top or can it be used as a sealer?
Mineral Spirits can and should be used after using chemichal strippers. It neutralizes the "bad stuff". However, it will work as a sealer. Essentially it evaporates and leaves no film or "seal" of any kind.I find the current crop of polyurethane products work best for most projects (especially DYI projects) as it is easy to apply (try the "wipe-on" variety for excellent results. It often takes multiple coats of this varnish type product to achieve optimum results. Sand with 220 grit or higher or use Libreon's "0000" steel wool between coats - followed by using a tack cloth to remove all residue. Only apply the sealer in a dust free room and allow at least 8 hours (24 is best) drying time between coats.Good luck!
will mineral spirits clean fingernail polish off of a finished wooden chair?
Finger nail polish is usually a lacquer so mineral spirits will not dissolve it. Use lacquer thinner on the polish; however if the finish on your furniture is also lacquer be careful as it may dissolve that.
In my opinion it will but try to apply very little at a time, keeping in mind that the mineral spirit will tend to also remove the finish protector on the chair. So you will have to re-apply a finish protector afterward.
no, but acetone will.
Dude, actone will destro the finish pronto. You will be faced with stripping thee table, sanding re-staining and re-sealing. Michael L
Im getting ready to paint my truck, can i use mineral spirits as a degreaser?
Yes you can use Mineral Spirits as a degreaser on your truck. However, you will also need to etch the surface of the old paint and metal if the new paint/primer is adhere well to the old surface. Light sanding should work fine but you will then need to be careful to remove all paint dust. This can best be done with a Tack cloth.Good luck!Mi8chael
Iaccidentally had some Rustoleum paint sprayed lightly over Trex deck boards from wind drift, can I clean it up with mineral spirits?
Doubtful. You may need a stronger remover but try it first.Mineral Spirits is a mild cleaner but maybe not strong enough for your problem. Mineral Spirits will not damage the surface, including paint. Perhaps Trex has a recommendation.
