What length steering cable do I need for a 2000 Malibu Escape 23' V-drive and it's cost?Does the electrical connection for the RPM gauge go into the MDC - 1600 box under the dash. The reason I ask is the speedometer has been acting up and now the RPM tachometer is acting up. I can live without the speedometer but would like the Tach.
Sorry, we don't have any boat references to go by for length, there should be a number stamped on the black part of the cable, usually the last 2 numbers are the length.

how do you measure for rack steering cable on an older18ft bass boat with Yamaha outboard
For Rack Steering Cable Replacement, Measure Existing Cable as follows:Measure plastic cable jacket ("Y" dimension shown in above drawing) in inches, add 30", and round up to next foot. Order that length cable.

2000 Rinker 272 BR. I have measured and believe that the proper length should be 20'. There are no marking on the jacket except for Telefelx. No model/part numbers on either end. Just Teleflex labeled about every foot. Is this the correct cable length?
This cable fits a twin steering systems (Helm TEL-SH5098. We don't have any boat references to match up what you have. Best is to buy a complete kit with helm and cable.

Where do I find the part number on the old cable system?
The part number should be stamped on one of the ends of the black plastic covering. It would be an SSC number

I need to replace the steering cable on our 2006 Suzuki. The numbers I see are SS06210 then I see numbers 093561. Can you help me match this up?Thanks,Ron
It looks like it could be a SSC6210 a 10' cable.
I have a Teleflex SSC1247515 and am unable to find an exact part number match. Several are close but the"75" before the 15, in the number I cant seem to locate. I haven't been able to find out for sure what the"75" means and not sure how it will affect the operation if I use a cable with a slightly different number?
On my boat, the old cables numbers were not legible, Think if you order the correct length ,number doesn't matter. These cables work for a champion 186 year 1997.
SSC1247515 isn't a valid number, we have an SSC12415 15' cable for Old style XR-4 rack steering cable that fits the old Teleflex rack helms; SH5098P, SH5097P, SH91528, SH91529.
Hi Rick, we have an 1987 Bayliner 18' Capri boat with a ssc12415 15'rack cable which part number do I order?
I have a Detmar steering cable : G94 11feet are stamped on it. What telflex number [124 or 134] replaces it so as the mounting holes match?
I'd give Teleflex a call and see what they have to say. You'll like it.
would a steering cable from a 1981 60 hp johnson outboard be compatible with a 1987 60 hp johnson?
If it is a the same brand of cable it should work
I have a Yamaha outboard motor. I also have a telefax steering in it. my question is whether there is an o-ring in the system where the cable connects to the arm on the motor?
As far as I know there isn't an oring at the motor connection.
was a perfect match to what the manufacturer standards
I would pursue using these folks again for steering cable.

Exactly what I needed!
Bought an old boat. The previous owner (brother in law, stop laughing) said the steering cable "needed a little lubrication." After nearly twisting the steering wheel out of the consol it was clear that lubricants were not going to solve this problem. Filled with dread I started removing panels off the boat. The cable was easy to remove once exposed and the Teleflex number on the cable sheath made it easy to look up the new part. Jamestown had a good price and great customer reviews. That's what sold me. If I had a problem with this part, I wanted a real store backing me up, not an Internet .com address to nowhere. Fast shipping and a perfect fit. Thanks guys!
Worked great! Easy install.
Watch the video on how to remove your old cable and install your new one. It really helps. It took me about an hour and half to complete. Thanks!
Exactly as promised
Had to lift my motor up about 2 inches and then installation was a piece of cake!
Jamestown makes it easy
Easily found the cables for my Skeeter on the website, shopped around and compared prices, found that I couldn't beat Jamestown anywhere, placed the order, got my cables 3 days later, perfect fit!
Worked great, fast shipping
After installing the steering cable it was like night and day. great result, highly recommend.
