I have the MKIII. The pump pedal does not have any spring to it - it is staying in the down position and is loose as far as up and down movement. Before I buy a rebuild kit- will the kit solve the problem. Does the pump pedal have a spring attached to it that is not included in the kit? Or does the pedal rely on the diaphragms for it to remain up when not in use?rewgards Roger Gaby, Deltaville,VA

Roger,The pump has a single internal spring that pushes the diaphragm back after you step on the foot pedal. The spring is probably fine as it is made of stainless steel. The diaphragm most likely has a hole in it which is causing the pump not to return to its original position. The rebuild kit will solve this condition. The only reason this would be different is if someone took apart the pump previously and removed the spring. Not sure why they would do that but that could also cause this effect.

How do you put the parts to gether??
Carefully note how you took it a part. Or take pictures step by step as you take it a part. There should be an exploded view of the assembly in the kit or on line.
Does this work on the Whaler Gusher Urchin pump?
This kit fit my 30 year old Mk 2 pump perfectly.I could not even to guess if it would fit your pump.Good luck!
