Is the base section available? My unit has cracked due to age and weather but the stainless top os perfect.Phil Gray
They list replacement covers but no replacement bases.
The company lists the entire base without the cover. I bought the entire plastic version for basically the same money. The original Vent-O-Mate was made in Sweden. Very cheap plastic. The new ones are made in Taiwan and the plastic is MUCH better. I too have the original stainless covers which are very nice. I now have working vents in the 4" holes that were drilled for the originals. They look great and work very well for unpowered vents.

They work well but are not durable
Our boat came with three Beckson Vent O Mates on the hatches. They ventilate OK and keep the water out. BUT, they fall apart after about 3-4 years' exposure to the sun. I have replaced all of them at least once. I have spoken with Beckson about the problem. The plastic base gets crumbly like chalk and then one day the dome falls off. I have seen no improvement in their materials since I spoke to them. I keep replacing them because they fit the holes in my hatches. If you don't already have a 4 inch hole in your hatch, don't buy Beckson. Look for a more durable product.
Plastic cover disintegrates when exposed
I mounted this in a 4 inch hole I cut into my deck. After only two seasons, the plastic vents on the cover became brittle and disintegrated. I thought it would be more weather resistant due to the nature of the product requiring it to be exposed to the elements. Now I have to find a replacement that requires a 4 inch hole.
Not very durable
This product was installed in April 2012 and was exposed to summer sun for only two seasons. The grill on the cover is disintegrating due to ultra violet light exposure. The plastic used should be more resistant to sun exposure due to the nature of how the product should be used. Now I have to find a better replacement that requires a 4 inch hole that I had to put in my deck to install this poorly designed product.
