#12 Stainless steel flat head slotted wood screws. Wood screws have coarse and deep threads to better anchor into wood. Flat head screws are used for general fastening when the screw head will be flush with the surface or when it will be countersunk and the hole will be plugged. Slotted drive is also called straight slot. Stainless steel provides strong corrosion resistance.
These marine grade screws provide excellent corrosion resistance and are the work horse for modern boatbuilding or exterior woodworking applications.

MET / STD:
I used these to restore a wooden bodied MG sports car. They are fabulous. If you are using these with hard wood, you need to make pilot holes. There are issues with SS screws, regardless of supplier. SS is maleable, much less hard than carbon steel, and they will therefore bend much easier. The heads are more succeptible to damage when driving them home. It is possible to "ring off" (ie, twist off the head) with power driver or hand screwdriver. These are the only way to make permanent, lasting repairs in some applications. Jamestown is a great supplier.
durable, but hard to install, preferably drill holes before using the screws
I used the SS screws to assemble outdoor furniture which had steel screws that rusted over several years exposure to weather. They look great and the corrosion protection they provide will help the wood last much longer.
