how do I determine which washer size?
Hi,If you Google finish washer there is a full size chart you can print out.
Finish washer size should match the screw size. #6 Washer for #6 Screw, for instance. Boating types like an oval head screw, but a flat head will look ok.
Are any of these sizes 1/2" inside?
Unfortunately we do not, that would be a 7/16 washer which we do not carry. Thank you.
Hello,Before I order the #4 Brass Finishing Washers I would like to be sure of their size. I know that the center hole is sized for a #4 screw, so can you please tell me the OD of the washer and its height? Thanks,WaltEverett, WA
Hi Walt - the finish washers are 3/8" OD & 1/16" in height. I love them and use them with slotted oval heads on all my canoe and boat projects, They are just a nice finishing touch. Good luck. Rolf
Walt:I am not sure why Jamestown referred your question to me because I bought 1/4", not #4 washers. For what it's worth: ID 5/16", OD 13/16" and height 1/8"Hope it helpsDavePenn Yan NY
I need a brass colored or real brass washer to cover an area where I will be installing a new knob on a cupboard door. The washer needs to be at least 1" nor more than 1-1/4" across with a center hole at lease 1/8" but no more than 1/4 inch. I do not know the # size of the screw I will be using. What size washer do I need?
judy, these washer are pretty small. you need a bigger flat washer for your cubbard, try your local hardware store. or maybe ebay. good luck , regards, jim
Based on the information in your question, I don't think that this finish washer is what you are looking for. These washers are relatively thin pressed and stamped brass sheet material designed to compliment the finish of a flat or oval head brass wood screw. They are much smaller than 1-inch in diameter. I think that you should be looking for a flat fender washer. You can buy an unfinished fender washer or a zinc plated one and paint it metallic brass/gold/bronze color for the application you described.
how can I tell what size finish washer I need?
Hello,To find out the size of the washer you need , it go by the same size of the screw you are using. Exemple if you use a # 6 screw use a # 6 washer. If you need more explications feel free to ask.
Finish washers are numbered the same as wood screws. A #8 screw would use a #8 finish washer. When there apears to be no match then use the next size washer larger or smaller. That is if you have an odd size screw and cannot find a similar numbered washer but there are washers sized by 1 number above or below than either may work. Hope this helps.
The washers are numbered by size (eg. #8, #10, #12). That number matches the screw size (eg. #8 screw gets a #8 washer.
Finish washer sizes correspond to the screw size that you are using. If you are fastening with #10 screws, you should purchase #10 finish washers. If you are installing the washers in an evnironment the promotes rust, use brass or stainless steel. Stay away from brass colored washers if you are concerned about rust. Use solid brass or stainless for exterior or marine use and use brass or stainless screws that match. Oval head or flat screws can be used with the finish washers and I think that philips head screws look best but that is just my preference.
What number would be 1/2 inch outside and 3/16 inside?
Looks like you'd be in between a number 10 and number 12...#10 I.D.3/16" O.D.7/16" Thickness 0.037"#12 I.D.15/64" O.D. 1/2" Thickness 0.040"< a href="http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/document.do?docId=514&title=Washer+Selections+to+Complement+Nuts+and+Bolts" target="_blank">http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/document.do?docId=514&title=Washer+Selections+to+Complement+Nuts+and+Bolts< /a>

Are these compatable with the Silicon Bronze Frearson flat head screws?
Ted St.Mars Sr.
Compatible? I don't think you'll see any galvanic corrosion or anything like that, and yes the screw fits in the hole. But! They are different colors. I used them on my boat you can tell - the Finish Washers are very brassy, with a shiney golden color, and the silicon bronze screws are more of a red color with a satin finish. they are close, but they do not match in color.
I don't see any reason why they would not work fine with a Frearson flat head.
I used these with oval-head screws which are harder to find than flat-head, but I prefer the esthetics.
We antique the washers and use them with bronze screws all the time
MARTHA'S VINEYARD CONSTRUCTION CO
yes, but not as good as the oval head brass screws that I also purchased
Sorry, I don't know
I have no idea.

Not what you'd expect
Not the bright, shiny finish I was expecting. These are dull with built in patina. Also, way too many pieces have stamping defects/flaws. While generally functional, not something you can use for quality finish work.
