will fiberglass stick to this product?
Yes, 27 is like Bondo and fiberglass will adhere OK.
Has anyone eve used this to fix chips on a bass boat gel coat. No structural damage just some fiber glass chipping above my rub rail and to fill some screw holes. What product would you recommend? I am not a pro but If there is a filler I can use to fill some small chipping That I could come back and paint with gel coat and let me know.
Sorry, I'm not the right person to ask as I am a wooden boat guy and not very familiar with gel coat and its related repairs.
what solvent do use to clean up during and after formula 27?
I've never used Formula 27, but I have used a lot of Epoxy and Bondo type products. I don't know what solvent to use, as I've never used solvent to clean my tools. These plastic resins don't bond to plastic or bond well to slick metal, so it flakes right off after the job. With the metal tools it is better to scrape it off before it hardens, but on plastic it doesn't matter. I also use plastic Tupperware type containers and just let any residue set in the container. Later it just peels right out, leaving the bowl clean. In any case, you will not normally have time to "clean" anything up, as the resin in all these products cures pretty fast. Once this stuff cures no normal solvent will cut it.
Is it possible to purchase color tints for formula 27?
I have not tried to add color to Evercoat. It would seem difficult since the material is gray and opaque. I have used it successfully to to patch, form, shape, create, repair many different base materials. Repairing pottery, china, ceramic, etc it creates a wonderful base to add color to hide the repair, and most of the cases I have worked required recreation of surface design, or painting. I some cases where I am using a clear material, I have shaved artist chalk for color, but I have not tried that with Evercoat. Most of the time the "customer" has a hard time finding the repair.John R

Color tints to fomula 27? Paint covers formula 27 so easley I have never even thought of tinting it. But, if I did, I would add a little fiberglass tinting color to a small patch while mixing and test to see if the formula holds up the the addittion of the color tint. I would bet that it would. Formula 27 is a very good product if you apply in thin amounts and let dry 24 hours betreen applications.. If you apply large amounts it will crack and gap.
Great product and great people at Jamestown
One stop shop at Jamestown. Products are good overall but the people that help select the right product are priceless.
Give me a boat that floats
Park City, Utah
said before..good stuff but sets quickly
Hit something in the water with my bass boat, bought this to make a repair, seems to fill in nicely, just need to sand. Great stuff just wish the details on mixing were more detailed, might have used to much hardener ,wish it came in different colors.
Mix 10:1, just like bondo. Mix well and be prepared before you mix. Work fast and spread as flat as possible to minimize sanding.
Good Product, sets up quick though
Good product!! Be careful to only mix up what you can spread in 3 minutes. Sands great with 120-150 grit. Good price point. Needs better directions on the hardener/ base mixture. It says a 4" diameter on the base, with a line of hardener across the 4" base. It is difficult to spread that much filler under three minutes, especially if you are fairing small holes.
