EC-Cutter cordless electric scissors are specifically designed to cut tough fabrics like Aramid, Kevlar, carbon fiber cloth and more. The EC-Cutter features a light weight, ergonomic shape that eliminates the fatigue associated with manual cutting.
A powerful, long lasting rechargeable battery means there is no cord to trip over or get in the way of larger work pieces. Unique half-moon shaped blades are hardened to stay sharper longer than conventional cordless scissors.
Short, rapid strokes mean accurate, clean cuts for intricate work. The short cutting stroke makes the EC-Cutter less suitable for cutting materials thicker than 1/8 inch.
Six month Manufacturer's warranty. The electric scissors are guaranteed free of defects in workmanship for 6 months from date of purchase. Receipts must be retained as proof of purchase.

Can these scissors be used for dressmaker fabrics? I have a hand problem and cannot use regular scissor easily. I had a Sears plug in model electric scissors for years, but it wore out. I really need a new one.
Yes, they will work great in that application.

Good evening, Do you have option on this cutter for 220 volts?Best Regards Cristian
While I can recommend it in general, I am sorry, I don't have this option for the EC Cutter. Best of Luck,
Sorry, not available in 220 volt.
How much does this cutter weigh?
10 oz? i have rhuematoid arthritis in my hands and can use the cutter all day
I don't know what it weighs, a little more than a pair of scissors; however, since it zips through material as fast as it does, you don't have to hold it very long. We have had ours for over two years now, and love it. Cutting out patterns for blue jeans is a breeze.
It is pretty light, like less than a pound. The battery gives it a little heft, but it is not heavy to work with for hours on end. I use mine to cut fiberglass cloth of various weights, very effective. It is a good tool. I'd give it a 9/10 with pounts off for durability (don't drop it on the concrete floor), it chipped when dropped. Otherwise it works as advertised.
How hard is it to change blades? I have a very hard time with this. Love the way they cut!
I too have a hard time changing the blade. I still have NOT been able to do so.
I just got an email from Jamestown Distributors about someone wanting to know how long the cutting blades for the electric cordless scissors have lasted, and now that question has been removed from the web site, I can still answer the question, I have cut over 100 yards of carbon fiber cloth and probably 300 yards with the second set of blades, the first ones did not last very good, I forgot to clean the epoxy off them well enough and had to replace them after the first use. My stupidity not a problem with the blades.?
Yes, we'll post your question and answer. Thanks
It's not complicated, but it requires a lot of hand strength and grip. You have to compress the two yellow tabs in the body near the front edge, and pull it off. Since its tight fitting, if you don't have strong hands and a helper it would be tough to do. Take it to your hardware store. Those guys can do anything within reason, and I can't imagine they would charge you.
will the scissors cut through shag carpet ?
No, I don't think these scissors are meant for anything this thick.
Maybe.. I use my scissors for sewing. I have cut upholstery vinyls without problem and furs. You would have to get to the base and pull the carpet out of the way.As long as you are aiming to cut the base and the base isn't too thick, it should cut.I love these scissors.
how long does it run on the battery & how many battery come with the kit?
Hi, the battery will last about 1.0 hours with continuous use with heavy materials, and all day with light materials intermittently. It's a small battery, 3 cells, 1.3V each, around. best to have a spare. I bought one, and use it a lot. when I notice the cutter slowing, I simply switch to the fresh one, and charge the other. Hope to be of help.
The corded option is included. I have never needed to purchase an extra battery.
I really can't say how long it runs on the battery as we only use it for 10 minutes or so at a time and replace it on the charger after use. We received one battery with the cutters. The kit comes with an adapter to run on standard 120V electric that eliminates the battery and lets it run indefinitely.
I don't know how long it runs. I charge between uses. But if you forget, there is a corded option for these scissors.
We use these in our plant for cutting film and weave type material. Bottom screws on the blade heads are constantly falling out and getting lost. How would I go about getting spares?
Never had this issue happen. We use ours on fabric. I would contact EC Cutter or use a product that I use on bolts or screws called thread lock. This product can be purchase at most department stores or auto part stores. I had to use this product on vehicles or machinery that is critical for items not to back out.
MICHAEL FISHER SR.
I did not think this was a good product at all.I could not get it to stay charged.I would not want any other parts as it never worked well from the beginning.
I also had issues with a faulty cord and I finally (!!) tracked down the manufacturer's distributor---they were extremely helpful and sold to me what I needed at a reasonable price:Wolff Industries, Inc 107 Interstate Park Spartanburg, SC I would include their phone numbers but this question/answer site will NOT allow me to include phone numbers or email addresses--sorry! You will have to google their number!Hope this helps! I stocked up with extras, you may want to do the same!
E.C. Cutter Electric Scissors
I have a upholstery business and this is my second set of this cutter I LOVE IT!! I also work part time in fabrics and take these with me So easy to use and customers love the clean cut!! I just wish there was a way to sharpen the blades instead of having to buy replacements for half of what the whole set costs!! They need to adjust their price LOL
Botany (plant lover)
Best sewing scissors! On my way to buying my 3 pair.
I sew. These are great! Sharp, smooth cut on all fabrics, linen, chiffon, silks, fur, spandex. But don't drop them... they will break.**** Since I drop them all the time off the high table, I ALWAYS duct tape the blade piece to the handle. The tape acts as a protective bumper and prevents the scissors from breaking at the connection point.
Easy to use and less mess
Cutting fiberglass without the raveling is awesome.
I use these scissors for cutting vinyl. I'm in the boat Upholstery business. They work great. No stress on the hands that regular scissors cause.
Cuts well through many layes
I've seen reviews describing this cordless scissor as looking cheap with poorly fitting parts. Not true. It's just the opposite. Design and implementation is flawless. Parts fit together with no gaps or poor fitting pieces. This scissor is not an industrial shear. It won't cut thick material including thick cardboard. Cuts various fabrics, poster board and similarly thick materials with precision.
Will Buy Again - Great Customer Service
Perfect for arthritic hands. I have used carpet shears for many years and they have taken a toll on my hand. Wish I would have discovered these scissors sooner. Makes it so much easier to trim a carpet remnant for binding. I had one small issue when my scissors arrived. Made one phone call and problem was solved immediately. Nice to see a company stand behind their product. Will be ordering a second pair for a gift.
Cut Through Clear Vinyl With Ease!
I am in the marine canvas industry. Essentially, I replace clear vinyl and canvas on boats. Until I received the EC Cutter, shears were used to cut the material. With the EC Cutter, I save time and eliminate fatigue. These electric scissors cut through 40 gauge clear vinyl (often referred to as Eisenglass) and canvas with ease. I should have purchased this tool a long time ago.
This product saved my business.
I have been using the EC Cutter for several months and had to submit a review because it's an invaluable tool for my business. I sew items made from recycled firefighter turnout gear and I could no longer cut the Nomex fabric with the scissors I had. I quickly dulled all of the very good quality scissors that I owned and I was hurting my hand each time that I would cut the fabric. The EC Cutter solved the problem and the battery life is surprisingly long.
These cutters are easy to use and comfortable in your hands. The carbide edge on the blades mean they will last longer than most electric scissors. The added bonus is that they will work with the cord plugged in or cordless. I'm sure I will be able to cut many, many yards of fleece with these
