I purchased the switch several years ago for my 26' Carver. The switch shown will work just fine. Make your starter battery "battery 1". Wire the + lead from that battery to the #1 post on the back of the switch. For your house battery "battery 2", wire the + lead to post number two. Then attach all the house and starter cables to the common post. When you want to preserve the starting battery, switch to #2 so your house battery provides power for accessories.

Hi Jeff,I purchased one of these battery four way switches for a solar system. The four way switch will work perfectly for your application and provides the advantage of being able to simultaneously select both batteries. Keep in mind when one battery is selected only that battery will be charged when outboard is running, to charge both batteries select BOTH on switch. Happy boating :)Steve

The dual 1+2 position would only be needed for charging both batteries at the same time, or using both at the same time. It would work great for a dual system. I used them on a 24v electric vehicle to switch from bank to bank of series deep cycles- no problem. They do work constant supply, switching doesn't turn the stereo off. Great product

Hey.. I can't say for sure since I installed it on my boat back in 2009, and the boat has been covered and stored for the winter. I'm assuming you're asking because perhaps you have a tight place you want to see if it will fit inside. In that case, my answer probably won't be much help, but overall it's about 4-1/2 inches square, and stands out off the panel about 2-1/2 to 3 inches. I haven't had any trouble with the switch. I've got a 14.5' Princecraft aluminum fishing boat with a 30hp Johnson engine.Hope this is helpful,-Jeff.
