What in the wall thickness? would itbe good in structural uses?
Wall thickness is .058"
Is this easy to bend? Any special tools needed to bend it? Thanks
Hi Paul,In short, NO aluminum tubing is "easy" to bend. You must do some research to determine the minimum bend raduis based on tubing size and wall thickness. Next you will have to fill the tubing with sand or some material to prevent crimping (collapsing the wall or even breaking the tube). A commercial tubing bender may work but it may be better to build you own from lumber for the exact bend you want to make or a universal "tear-drop" shape to bend several radii. In any case, good luck!John DuncanBenson, NC
I did not have to bend it for my application.I don't think it would bent easy with out a :"hickey" tool.
This tubing is strong, but can be bent easily if you have the right tool. For a nice consistent bend, use a pipe or tubing bender available for sale or rent locally. An alternative - good for longer pieces/bends, is to cut a piece of plywood at least 1/2 the thickness of the tubing in the desired arch (stack two or more for thicker tubing) and mount it to a pallet or sheet of plywood. Mount one end of the tubing to one end of the arch, then bend around the arch, keeping flat against the backing. Good luck!
