These high-performance, high-strength lines have a low-stretch polyester double braid. New England Sta-Set is flexible and long wearing, easy to handle and splice, and is ideal for most running rigging applications. Spools are 600 feet in length, or you can order by the individual foot (cut-footage is not returnable).
Available in White with fine red tracer. Made with premium low-stretch polyester double braid by New England Ropes. Treated with a water repellent for the ultimate resistance against abrasion. Double braided polyester does not hockle or back turn and can easily be spliced.

New England Ropes
is 1/4" sta set a good choice for halyards for a Herreshoff 12.5"
If the sheaves will take 1/4" line then that would be fine. Sta-Set X has less stretch.

I only want 150'. Where do I put that in?

in the cart you get to indicate the quantity desired
I'm replacing the main sheet on my American 15 and want to know if 5/16 or 3/8 is recommended?
I put 3/8 on my 31 foot boat n happy with it.R
I put 3/8 on my 31 foot boat n happy with it.R
what is load handling strength?
It depends on the size for example 3/8" is 4,000 lbs tensile
How much stretch does this line have?
Sta-Set is listed at 1.8% stretch.
Is there something better? I recently bought a 1976 M-16 by Johnson Boat Works, excellent condition with exception to all the lines. 3 different sizes. What should be used
Hard to say. I can tell you that this is excellent general purpose marine rope and is sold at a good price here at Jamestown Distributors. You should get several sizes to have on hand!
The sta-set is an excellent quality line. I've used it now for three years as running rigging on a Bristol 27. No problems whatsoever. Line has stayed supple. Durable product.
I don't know if there is anything better on Jamestown. I can tell you that I have been using this particular line for halyards on a 24 ft sloop the last 3 years and have had no issues with it.
Is this what I would use for lifting and lowering my sail on a Hobie Cat?
Yes - that would work. Just make doubly sure of the size openings it would go through; some cats have different sizes hardware.
It will work, I have an 18 foot cruising catamaran with a Hobie 18 mast.I routed the halyard internally, eliminated the mast head halyard lock and clete it on the side of the mast at the gooseneck.Good luck,Howard Spruit
That is what I use on my boat
JOHN "C HILL, JR. "
Thanks, I ordered it.
I think it would work, but I have to admit that I bought this rope to use in my canoe to provide tie-down points for my gear. I was looking for top quality marine rope and I believe this qualifies. -Dan
Bob E, polyester double braid is excellent for low stretch and high strength/thickness. Much stronger than traditional 3 strand of same diameter. Polyester double braid is the perfect line for halyards and main/jib sheets for everyday sailboats. If you need docking lines go nylon for stretch, not polyester.
Yes, this will work fine for a halyard as it has little stretch. I use it for both halyards and sheets. It also wears well. Greg

I replaced the main & jib sheets on my 1980 Chrysler 26
Finger Lakes, ny
price was right
I used it to replace the main sheet and the rear back stay tensioner on my Catalina 27.
Meets my needs
I asked that this line be cut into 4 pieces, 2 at 62' each and 2 at 25' each. They came in at 64.5', 64', 27' and 20'. Clearly, the person cutting the line did a sloppy job. Fortunately, the line will still work for my purposes.
Just what I was looking for
Best product for sail rigging
Upstate New York
Needed new jib sheets due to age, wear, and some species of birds that picked at the old ones and frayed them. I should have trusted that Jamestown would have cut the line in two sections, rather than creating two separate orders. My bad. Fast delivery, and very satisfied with the quality.
Good product, sketchy service again
I asked in the order for my 70' ordered length to be cut into two 35' lengths for jib sheets. When my order arrived, despite my request being printed in nice italic letters on the picking ticket, the rope had not been cut.
