General Application: For use on boats below the true waterline. Can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed on fiberglass, wood, steel and previously painted surfaces. Do not use on aluminum. Apply at least 2 coats for best performance, as the life of the paint is proportional to the number of coats applied.

Surface Preparation: Surface must always be clean, dry and properly prepared prior to painting. Failure to do so will lead to eventually blistering and/or peeling. All sanded surfaces must be wiped clean with Dewaxer to remove sanding residue.

New Fiberglass Hulls: Wipe down with Dewaxer as recommended to remove any mold release wax. Change rags frequently to assure complete removal of wax and mold release agent and contaminants. Sand surface thoroughly with 80 or 100-grit sandpaper. Wipe again with Dewaxer to remove sanding residue. Mask or tape any surfaces as needed and apply TotalBoat TotalProtect barrier coat/primer as directed for best adhesion and osmosis protection.

Bare Wood Hulls: Surface must be dry and clean. Make sure all seams are filled and smooth with seam compound. Sand surface with 80-grit sandpaper and wipe surface clean with a lint-free rag wetted with Dewaxer. Mask or tape any surfaces as needed.

Bare Steel Hulls: Sandblast hull until shiny. Wipe with Dewaxer to remove any sanding residue, mask and tape as needed, and immediately apply TotalBoat TotalProtect barrier coat/primer as directed on package.

Previously Painted Surfaces: Test a small area of the old paint for compatibility by sanding with 80-grit sandpaper or scraping any loose paint from the old surface and wipe clean with Dewaxer. Apply a small patch of KeelHauler in that spot to test compatibility with the old paint. If paint patch cracks or lifts, all the old paint must be removed using TotalBoat TotalStrip or heavy sanding. Then follow the prep information for New Fiberglass Hulls, above. If there are no problems with initial adhesion, sand and scrape the remaining surface thoroughly with 80-grit sandpaper and wipe clean with Dewaxer. Mask or tape any surfaces as needed.
