Low Viscosity Resin: This low-viscosity epoxy resin saturates fiberglass fibers quickly, easily, and completely to reduce the amount of material, time, and labor needed for layups, laminating, and vacuum bagging.
Three Hardener Speeds to Control Cure Time: Fast, Medium, and Slow High Performance Hardeners allow you to control the pot life and cure times to suit your particular working conditions. For example, the High Performance Fast Hardener cures the fastest at room temperature, and can even cure overnight in low temperatures (minimum 55°F). Even better, you can craft your ideal working properties and pot life by combining the different hardeners with each other, but always remember to maintain the proper ratio of 2 parts resin to 1 part hardener by volume.
More Flexible Cure: The High Performance Epoxy System cures to a more flexible finish than traditional resins, too, making it a better choice for wooden boats and kayaks that typically flex during use, as well as expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity.

TotalBoat epoxy resin and hardeners are packaged and labeled according to group sizes (A, B, C) to ensure you have enough material for your project at the best value.
Clear-coating applications:High Performance Resin and Hardeners are clear in color and are ideally suited for clear-coating applications.
Resin and Hardeners can be measured either by pouring or by using the calibrated TotalBoat 2:1 Epoxy Pumps.
Personal Safety: For your safety, please be sure to wear protective gloves and eye, face, and clothing protection when working with epoxy resin and hardeners. Also, be sure your work area has adequate ventilation.
USING THE TOTALBOAT 2:1 PUMPS FOR DISPENSING TOTALBOAT HIGH PERFORMANCE EPOXY RESIN AND HARDENERS
The procedure for dispensing TotalBoat High Performance Epoxy Resin and any of the High Performance Hardeners properly is ALWAYS ONE full pump of resin to ONE full pump of hardener. TotalBoat pump sets are calibrated to dispense the accurate mix ratio automatically.
IMPORTANT! Proper mix ratios are critical when working with epoxy resin and hardeners in order to achieve a proper cure.
★ TotalBoat High Performance Epoxy Resin used with TotalBoat High Performance Fast Hardener, TotalBoat High Performance Medium Hardener, or TotalBoat High Performance Slow Hardener is mixed at a ratio of 2 parts resin to 1 part hardener by volume.

This pump set has a blue dot on the resin pump, and a red dot on the hardener pump. These colors correspond to the cap colors for the resin and hardener.
Remember, the procedure for dispensing TotalBoat High Performance Resin and High Performance Hardener properly is always ONE full pump of resin to ONE full pump of hardener.
When using the pump dispensing method for measuring TotalBoat High Performance Epoxy Resin and TotalBoat High Performance Fast Hardener, TotalBoat High Performance Medium Hardener, or TotalBoat High Performance Slow Hardener, use ONLY the TotalBoat 2:1 Epoxy Pumps. These pumps are calibrated to dispense the accurate 2:1 mix ratio automatically. DO NOT use pumps from any other manufacturer; DO NOT use the TotalBoat 5:1 or 3:1 Epoxy Pumps.
NOTE: Adding more hardener does not make the epoxy set faster. It throws off the mix ratio and will not cure properly.
PRIME THE RESIN AND HARDENER PUMPS BEFORE DISPENSING
Push down and release the head of each pump several times until you get a steady stream of liquid without any air pockets.
COLD WEATHER OPERATION: Cold temperatures make the viscosity of resin and hardeners increase and may require more force to pump thicker materials. Excessive force on either one of the plunger heads however, may also cause the pumps to break. Dispensing material in 60-70°F is recommended for optimal pump performance.
In cooler temperatures, warming the containers prior to pumping will decrease the epoxy viscosity, making materials pump more easily.
After dispensing resin and hardener into a plastic mixing pot, use a wooden stir stick to mix thoroughly.

What is meant in the description as, "Blush-Free: This non-blushing system eliminates the time consuming washdowns between coats typically needed when using traditional 5:1 resin systems." And why is washing recommended between coats in the Q and A?
Amine blush is a substance that rises to the surface as epoxy cures and it can interfere with the adhesion of additional coatings. Blush is present in all epoxies but its content in clear epoxy is extremely low. It's possible small pockets of blush can collect on the surface so it is considered best practice to wash the surface with warm water and a Scotch-Brite pad prior to sanding.
how much color will it hold?
It varies depending on type of tint being used. Always mix epoxy thoroughly before tinting then add color gradually. it is not likely you'll need enough tint to dilute the mixture.

No, the resin will not cure. Hardener is available in pint size.
Should I sand lightly between coats?
Light sanding is recommended, followed by an oil-free solvent wipe or aclean cloth moistened with either isopropyl alcohol or plain water to remove dust.
With what do I apply this product ? Rush, roller....?
Depends on what your doing. If your are putting on an initial sealer coat, use a roller.If you are applying it to your inhaler flood coat on "glass" use a squeegee, then roll. Additional coats , I use a roller.Good luck
I have a 5 x 3 foot table top i need to use the epoxy on and wanted to know if one quart would be sufficient for a 1/4 finish?
Probably not. Do the math: 1 (liquid) US quart is 57.75 cu in, whereas 5ftx 3ft x 0.25in = 60in x 36in x 0.25in = 540 cu inA quart would only cover an area of 231 sq in at 0.25in, which is more like12in x 19.25in x 0.25in...Good luck!
There is about 58 cubic inches in a quart. A 60" X 36" X 1/4" coating is 540 cubic inches. Would take more than 2 gallons for the bench....
Mathematically, yes.Â Would I trust math?Â No.Â I would have some more mix in waiting...but, that's me.
You could use this product but don't pour a 1/4 at a time because it will get too hot during curing. We have a Table Top Epoxy that you can pour up to 1/8" at a time.If I did the math right it would take 9 quarts for 5' X 3' at 1/4".

Hi, What would be the best prep to get this epoxy ready for primer after sanding ? Can denatured alcohol be used for final wipe down before tack cloth ?....thank you
You should scrub it first with hot soapy water to get rid of amine blush THEN sand. It will be easier to sand and will clog the paper less if you wash away the amine blush first.
Hello,I've had a lot of problems with orange peel and fish eye do to residue produced from the curing process of epoxy even after sanding. What has worked for me is a wash down with a soap and water solution to remove all oily contaminants, dawn works great. After drying with a clean lint free rag you can follow up with denatured alcohol.Hope this helps!
Denatured alcohol works fine. I had good results just painting over the epoxy without using primer.
After the epoxy has cured, wash with water just in case there is an amine blush, sand smooth and clean with acetone or denatured alcohol.

Full cure time is 3-5 days.
You can recoat once it tacks up a little about 25 minutes at 77 degrees.

I hate pumps, get dirty and never last long. Always use scale and disposable mixing cups. What is mix ratio by weight?
It's 2:1 by volume, not sure about weight. I haven't had any issues with the pumps in the two kits that I've had.

I am glassing in a keel that projects 1/2 inch below the hull; the fiberglass will need to make a 90 degree outside bend and then a 90 degree inside bend. Can this be done?
Yes it can be done. There are a number of ways to make a right angle bend,but it depends upon radius of bend and weight of the glass. 4 or 6 ounceglass will be a lot more malleable than 10 or heavier. No glass willconform perfectly to an absolute sharp edge. A radius in the bends makesall the difference in the world.The material limitations can be pushed a bit using forms and molds. If,when you finely apply the layer of glass and find that the the bend is tootight (radius is too small) and the glass pulls away, then you can use aform to help hold the glass tight around the bends as needed. A quick anddirty form is a piece of polyethylene plastic backed by wood blocks. Laythe plastic over the glass and work the bubbles out by hand. Then clampwood strips behind it to hold the glass in place. Epoxy will not bond tothe polyethylene.Another form method is to use shelf paper. Stick the shelf paper to themold. Wax with car wax for the mold release agent. I have used shelfpaper covered molds to make graphite reinforced parts, but used 1/2" radiusin the corner mold for right angle bend.
Absolutely. The most important thing is to select the proper fiberglass cloth material for the job. You can also build somewhat of a makeshift reverse mold to help hold the epoxy and fiberglass in the desired shape from the outside, to help it conform to the hull, or use a vacuum bag method for the tightest end result. Epoxy OK, Pumps Not OK
I've used quite a bit of this product building glued lapstrake boats. The epoxy is fine, I've used the slow cure and have no complaints. The reason for the low score here is because this is a kit containing the pumps, which I've come to conclude are junk. If you don't use them for awhile, they quit working properly. If you don't have a spare one handy (I highly recommend you do), you're stuck measuring out the quantities you want, praying you get it right, and making a mess. HAVE EXTRAS ON HAND.
I'd buy this product again and recommend it as well.
The way this two part epoxy is set up makes it extremely convenient and always mixed to the right portions. The pump system takes the guessing out of it and ensures a good, solid end results.

Followed the instructions and gave it a little more time to cure cause of the thickness. 3/4 cured and the rest wouldn't cure or was brittle.
