TotalBoat High Performance Epoxy Resin and High Performance Non-Blushing Hardeners cure to an ultra-clear, glossy, blush-free finish that produces exceptional results for hand layups, laminating, and clear coating.
Compare to MAS Low-Viscosity Epoxy and System Three Epoxy. You'll find our High Performance epoxy system combines the best characteristics of each: its low-viscosity is incredibly user-friendly for wetting out fiberglass cloth in layups, it cures clear to showcase the natural beauty of wood and has greater flexibility than 5:1 systems, which makes it a perfect fit for wooden boat, canoe, or kayak builds.
High Performance Epoxy Resin and Hardeners can be measured in one of three ways:
Using the TotalBoat 2:1 Epoxy Pumps
High Performance Epoxy Resin System Benefits
Low Viscosity Resin: This low-viscosity epoxy resin saturates fiberglass fibers quickly, easily, and completely to reduce the amount of material, time, and labor needed for layups, laminating, and vacuum bagging.
Three Hardener Speeds to Control Cure Time: Fast, Medium, and Slow High Performance Hardeners allow you to control the pot life and cure times to suit your particular working conditions. For example, the High Performance Fast Hardener cures the fastest at room temperature, and can even cure overnight in low temperatures (minimum 55°F). Even better, you can craft your ideal working properties and pot life by combining the different hardeners with each other, but always remember to maintain the proper ratio of 2 parts resin to 1 part hardener by volume.
More Flexible Cure: The High Performance Epoxy System cures to a more flexible finish than traditional resins, too, making it a better choice for wooden boats and kayaks that typically flex during use, as well as expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity.
Blush-Free: This non-blushing system eliminates the time consuming washdowns between coats typically needed when using traditional 5:1 resin systems.
Low Odor, Low VOC Content—Better for You and the Environment: Low-VOC, low-odor formula is better for use indoors or outdoors. The low VOC content is especially good for use in areas with environmental restrictions.

USING THE TOTALBOAT 2:1 PUMPS FOR DISPENSING TOTALBOAT HIGH PERFORMANCE EPOXY RESIN AND HARDENERS
The procedure for dispensing TotalBoat High Performance Epoxy Resin and any of the High Performance Hardeners properly is ALWAYS ONE full pump of resin to ONE full pump of hardener. TotalBoat pump sets are calibrated to dispense the accurate mix ratio automatically.
IMPORTANT! Proper mix ratios are critical when working with epoxy resin and hardeners in order to achieve a proper cure.
★ TotalBoat High Performance Epoxy Resin used with TotalBoat High Performance Fast Hardener, TotalBoat High Performance Medium Hardener, or TotalBoat High Performance Slow Hardener is mixed at a ratio of 2 parts resin to 1 part hardener by volume.
TotalBoat 2:1 Epoxy Pumps are calibrated to dispense the proper mix ratio of TotalBoat High Performance Epoxy Resin and TotalBoat High Performance Hardener automatically.
Use the TotalBoat 2:1 Epoxy Pump Set when using TotalBoat High Performance Epoxy Resin with:
TotalBoat High Performance Fast Hardener
TotalBoat High Performance Medium Hardener
TotalBoat High Performance Slow Hardener
This pump set has a blue dot on the resin pump, and a red dot on the hardener pump. These colors correspond to the cap colors for the resin and hardener.
Remember, the procedure for dispensing TotalBoat High Performance Resin and High Performance Hardener properly is always ONE full pump of resin to ONE full pump of hardener.
When using the pump dispensing method for measuring TotalBoat High Performance Epoxy Resin and TotalBoat High Performance Fast Hardener, TotalBoat High Performance Medium Hardener, or TotalBoat High Performance Slow Hardener, use ONLY the TotalBoat 2:1 Epoxy Pumps. These pumps are calibrated to dispense the accurate 2:1 mix ratio automatically. DO NOT use pumps from any other manufacturer; DO NOT use the TotalBoat 5:1 or 3:1 Epoxy Pumps.
NOTE: Adding more hardener does not make the epoxy set faster. It throws off the mix ratio and will not cure properly.
PRIME THE RESIN AND HARDENER PUMPS BEFORE DISPENSING
Push down and release the head of each pump several times until you get a steady stream of liquid without any air pockets.
COLD WEATHER OPERATION: Cold temperatures make the viscosity of resin and hardeners increase and may require more force to pump thicker materials. Excessive force on either one of the plunger heads however, may also cause the pumps to break. Dispensing material in 60-70°F is recommended for optimal pump performance.
In cooler temperatures, warming the containers prior to pumping will decrease the epoxy viscosity, making materials pump more easily.
After dispensing resin and hardener into a plastic mixing pot, use a wooden stir stick to mix thoroughly.

I have a 5 x 3 foot table top i need to use the epoxy on and wanted to know if one quart would be sufficient for a 1/4 finish?
You could use this product but don't pour a 1/4 at a time because it will get too hot during curing. We have a Table Top Epoxy that you can pour up to 1/8" at a time.If I did the math right it would take 9 quarts for 5' X 3' at 1/4".

Hi, What would be the best prep to get this epoxy ready for primer after sanding ? Can denatured alcohol be used for final wipe down before tack cloth ?....thank you
After the epoxy has cured, wash with water just in case there is an amine blush, sand smooth and clean with acetone or denatured alcohol.

I hate pumps, get dirty and never last long. Always use scale and disposable mixing cups. What is mix ratio by weight?
Great question. I have also included a link directly to our technical data sheet for this product that has more info as well. When using Fast Hardener: 100A : 46BWhen using Medium Hardener: 100A : 45BWhen using Slow Hardener: 100A : 45Bhttps://doc.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/pdfs/TotalBoat/TotalBoat_High_Perfomance_2to1_Epoxy_Resin_TDB.PDF

I am glassing in a keel that projects 1/2 inch below the hull; the fiberglass will need to make a 90 degree outside bend and then a 90 degree inside bend. Can this be done?
Absolutely. The most important thing is to select the proper fiberglass cloth material for the job. You can also build somewhat of a makeshift reverse mold to help hold the epoxy and fiberglass in the desired shape from the outside, to help it conform to the hull, or use a vacuum bag method for the tightest end result. Please do not hesitate to reach out to one of our techs at (800) 497-0010 if you would like us to help you find the right materials for the task.

Can I use Total Boat High Performance 2:1 Epoxy to make white oak laminated wood boat frames . I plan on making them out of 4 laminates , 1/4 x 1 1/2 x 12 ft. long. the boat is a 38 ft. Chris Craft Corinthian Sport Fisherman.
Yes. It is recommended sand the white oak to 180- or 220-grit sandpaper with the grain, and wipe it with a clean, cotton, lint-free rag wetted with acetone, then allow the acetone to dry completely and apply the epoxy as soon as the acetone has evaporated. White oak has a tendency of rejecting some coatings, so giving it this little extra bit of prep will give you the best chance for adhesion.

Do you have to wear a "gasmask", or, is it recommended that you use a gasmask when using this product in a "river" table?
A respirator should not be needed for this application unless you have a specific severe respiratory issue. Being an epoxy, it does off-gas from the reaction, you will see tiny little bubbles that work their way up through the epoxy and pop at the surface, and it is bad to breathe those fumes, but having a little ventilation will be more than sufficient to be safe.

Does this epoxy turn a amber color or a yellowish tint after curing ?....thanks
Most epoxies, even 'clear' ones will amber under UV exposure. This can also be from oxidation over time, but generally this product is very clear for a long time. The Slow and Medium are extremely clear, and the Fast may have a slight amber tone, but in most applications it is not noticeable at all. The resin is very very clear, so even if there is a tiny bit of amber in the hardener, it is diluted once it is mixed, and most applications are not very thick, so there is very little if any color at all.

Can System 3 be used to make "river" tables where you have a 2"-3" gap between the two pieces of wood?
A lot of people have been using High Performance 2:1 Epoxy for river poured tables and other furniture. The slow hardener is recommended, and there are maximum thickness recommendations per pour.

Excellent product will buy again.
Complete kit from start to finish.
I ordered the Total Boat 2:1 High Performance Epoxy with Medium Hardener based on several recommendations from other Makers and it does not disappoint. I will definitely be buying this product again (and again and again :) )
I like the product
I am building a skiff and wanted a non blush epoxy to work with. I've used the epoxy twice and like the results so far. I bought the slow hardener and have gotten good work time. I would rate 5 stars but when I tried to break the residue out of the plastic pails the pails began to crack. Also the pumps are O K, but it seems like their quality could be a little better. Good resin at a good price. And the free shipping is great. Thanks.
I bought this resin for my jewelry making and am very happy with this product. Mixes well and cures as said
This is the only product I now use
I've try a few other brands of resin and Total Boat has been the best by far
Blue Line Turnnings
This was my Wife and I first boat build. Learned alot from their "how tos" section. This epoxy was easy to work with. Here in Alabama it's in the 70s in the mornings and gets up to the mid to high 90s this time of the year. So we used the slow cure hardener. Felt like we had plenty of time getting the 6oz fiberglass cloth "wetted in". Will be ordering more soon. Gonna build a couple kayaks next.
MawMaw and PawPaw
Great product. Performs well.
Total Boat for picture frames
I use Total Boat Epoxy for inlay work on picture frames. I bought the whole kit; came with everything I needed to get started. Having never worked with epoxy before, I was somewhat intimidated, but the kit made things simple, and the results are better than I ever expected. I will be using Jamestown Total Boat Epoxy for a long time to come.
great epoxy resin- Many gallons used for Transom
Make sure you are ready and have all tools and glass ready prior to mixing - Limited work time try to keep it once mixed in smaller amounts in smaller cups -larger volumes seems to kick faster -
Long island NY
I'm hooked. Best resin I have used yet for casting
Love it! Hardens well in castings, polishes well and it's a bargain because the 1 gallon kit is actually 1 1/2 gallons.
