Interlux Ultra with Biolux High Copper Antifouling Paint

Fast-dry formula lets you paint and launch fast, usually the same day. Being a hard modified epoxy, Ultra features a durable finish with excellent color stability. High-solids formula means great coverage. Irgarol, the chemical compound behind Biolux, significantly boosts Ultra's ability to ward off slime at the waterline. Simple light scrubbing is that is required to keep your hull clean.

APPLICATION AND USE

Preparation

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES: In Good Condition: Remove loose paint and contamination by sanding the entire surface with 80-grit wet/dry sandpaper. In Poor Condition: Remove all old antifouling paint completely using Interstrip 299E for wood and fiberglass, or by sandblasting to near-white metal for steel.

BARE FIBERGLASS: Begin by scrubbing well using soap and water and a stiff brush. Rinse with fresh water and allow to dry. Remove any mold release wax with either Interlux Fiberglass Surface Prep YMA601V or Fiberglass Solvent Wash 202 following the instructions on the product label. Fill any surface imperfections with Interlux Watertite, following all instructions on the label.

BARE FIBERGLASS - NO SANDING SYSTEM: Clean the surface following the procedure above. Apply 1 coat of Interprotect 2000E or Fiberglass No-Sand Primer, following the instructions on the label or datasheet. Follow overcoating guidelines for the primer, apply at least two coats of Ultra allowing for appropriate drying time.

BARE FIBERGLASS - SANDING SYSTEM: Clean the surface following the procedure above. Sand with 80-grit sandpaper, and remove sanding residue completely. Apply at least two coats of Ultra, allowing for appropriate drying time.

BARE FIBERGLASS - BLISTER PREVENTION SYSTEM: Clean the surface following the procedure above. Sand with 80-grit sandpaper, and remove sanding residue completely. Apply Interprotect 2000E to a thickness of 10 mils. Apply at least two coats of Ultra, allowing for appropriate drying time.

BARE WOOD: Sand with 80-grit sandpaper. Remove sanding residue. Apply the first coat of Ultra thinned 10% with Special Thinner 216 (for spray application) or 433 Brush-Ease (for brushing application). If a primer is preferred, use Primocon YPA984. Fill seams, if necessary, with Seam Compound Brown 30. Apply two or more coats of Ultra, un-thinned, allowing for the appropriate drying time.

It seems good

I won't have a full review until I see how it performs. It's thinner consistency than expected but you don't need as much as you'd think. I did 3 coats on a 14' Cape Dory Handy Cat and I only used 1/2 a gallon. I am going to buy quarts in the future. One compliant which is easy to correct is that the paint was not shaken before shipped. It took me 15-20 mins to shake/stir it until it was ready to apply.

Presto
