TotalBoat Elixir is a water-based enamel finish suitable for a wide range of interior and exterior applications. Great for topsides, coamings, cabin ceilings, lazarettes, lockers, doors, cabinets, trim, bulkheads, galleys & more.

Superior abrasion, moisture & stain resistance, no harsh fumes, plus easy soap & water cleanup also make Elixir ideal for use on cabinets, doors, trim, paneling & baseboards in your home.

TotalBoat Elixir is a unique, self-priming one-part water-based enamel that helps topside surfaces defy the elements in harsh marine environments. There's no magic potion here, just a tough, moisture-resistant, UV-stable, marine-grade formula that prevents mildew, fading, chipping, and peeling, while prolonging the life of new surfaces and restoring beauty and life to old, worn, tired-looking fiberglass, wood, and metal above the waterline.
Elixir's gorgeous satiny semi-gloss finish can also add beauty at home—try it on cabinets, doors, trim, moldings, and baseboards, for an attractive finish that's truly easy to maintain. If it gets dirty, just wipe it down with a little mild soap and water. If the surface gets scratched or damaged, a little prep work and a few touch-up coats of Elixir will make the damage disappear quickly and easily.

Can this product be thinned with floetrol to reduce brush marks?
Not sure we've never worked with floetrol before. You would need to try a small test to see if it works.

Can this paint be applied over Total Fair fairing compound without priming?
We always recommend priming when painting over epoxy which Total Fair is.

can this paint be sprayed instead of rolled or brushed.
You can thin with water up to 20% for spraying.

It is not obvious how you would mix the paint if the pigments settled and since you cannot see in the bag how would you know it was mixed?
With the cap on, need the bag well to mix the paint.

says over properly prepared surface, what exactly does that mean. I'm going to be painting the whole inside of my J/29 and the exising paint is actually in pretty good shape but not everywhere.....
For paint in good condition, sand with 320 grit sandpaper, wipe clean with denatured alcohol, let dry and apply first coat.

Easy to work with, the bag makes it easy to pour out a small amount without making a mess.
Great bang for the buck
Really nice heavy duty paint that applies easy and, most importantly, lends itself to easy clean-up! Always make a mess when you paint? I know you do (I do too). The easy soap & water clean-up along with how well this paint holds up has been the perfect combination. I've used it on a few projects now with no complaints.

Ordered for an outdoor mailbox post. The finish is holding up great after the first couple months of spring storms and all day sun. Easy to apply and easy clean up.
Vibrant & Durable
I've now used Elixir paints twice on a few shop furniture projects for my woodshop where I need a durable finish to hold up to the wear and tear. Elixir fits that bill being a marine grade paint, and the colors really pop. Red is my favorite, but they are all bright and vibrant.
Yellow tint in Snow White...
Not great coverage. Had to put on multiple coats >2 on top on primer and wasn't happy with color. Generally like Total Boat products, but found this inferior to wet environment enamels.
I realize it says it needs no primer but it took me three coats to get a nominal finish
Not self priming
After reading the product claims, I convinced my wife that we should use this on our kitchen cabinets. I sanded most of the wood varnish off and applied two coats of Elixir. Yes allowing to dry between coats and following the application instructions. Unfortunately I had to completely sand off the two coats apply two coats of Total Boat primer and 4 coats of Elixir. Finally the cabinets are beginning to be one shade of white. Based on man hours and amount of product I would not recommend this for kitchen cabinets projects.
