Does the pump cycle on and off or run continuously? Thanks.
I haven't actually used it, but I'm pretty sure it just runs continuously -- thought apparently can manage this w/o burning up.
It runs continuously. You can adjust the level of vacuum with a valve thatlets some air in at the pump.
The pump runs continuously to keep a vacuum.

My friend said I need a pump with at least 28" of vacuum. I want it as small and compact as possible. I will be working in the garage on fiberglassing both sides of canoe paddles. What model would you suggest.? AC
Currently we only offer this one, at 23-24". This pump should be sufficient in handling your application.
Thanks RyanI am looking forward to working with it.AC
What is the maximum vacuum for this model? Thanks,Inessa
about 23 to 24"
Hi Jack,Thanks for sending your answer. It's very helpful.Best regards,Inessa
Just what I needed.
vacuum was as advertized - plentiful for the job at hand - 30 feet sailing boat rudder repair. The pump is quite silent and could be left overnight in my garage with no annoyance to me and my neighboors. Beware that the inlet requires a 3/8 ID tubing, requiring some craft (extra 3/8 tubing at home depot) to connect to the vacuum tubing proposed at JD.
