Sheffield Super Bright is a gold enamel metallic paint that simulates the look of gold leaf gilding without the expense. It replaces the no longer available Kemp Permagild.
Excellent for boat lettering work, Sheffield Gold Enamel is designed for fine finishing wherever the richness and beauty of gold is desired. Boat names, numbers, and lettering are good examples of where this paint can be used. Apply by brush, roller, or spray for superb decorative effect. Gives accent of gilded gold luster to brighten areas. This paint provides superb visible range to quarterboards and boat names.
Super Bright Gold Enamel is suitable for surfaces subject to handling or for exterior work. Non-tarnishing oil alkyd based enamel will not change color on exposure to light, heat, or moisture. An excellent paint for working sign boards and lettering.

Gold Metallic Paint
I have a can several years old and the paint has thickened a little so please advise best thinner for this paint
This is a solvent based product, try a little Interlux 333 thinner.
Can I get a very small can of Sheffield Super bright gold paint in a smaller size than 1pint? I am painting a small address sign.
Unfortunately the smallest unit that this product comes is one pint.

I am painting over gold leaf paint as it has weathered and chipped. Would you recommend that I prime over the gold leaf before painting with the product
You will need to sand the old paint and remove any loose paint. It's always good to use a primer for the best adhesion. Use an oil based primer.

does this product come in gallon cans? price? recommended thinner if required? can this product adhere well to a fiberglass churxch dome?
It only comes in pints and quarts. It is very thin, no thinner required. Should adhere to fiberglass.
what primer do u recommend?
It depends on what it is going on. On metal it would be TotalProtect, on wood you could use our topside primer.
Want to paint a small church dome in southwwsr florida. How will the product hold up to the sun and heat?
This product appears to be withstanding intense sunlight without losing color.
The paint is really just oil based paint so it will only last for a few years outside - maybe 2 or 3 at absolute most in SW Fla. It will have to be repainted often or it will fail because of the sun's UV rays. If you are painting inside it should be good for a long time.
The gold paint worked very well and has held up perfectly I would buy it again

I'm not sure. I used this paint for some routed lettering to use instead of gold leaf. the customer wanted a less expensive option, so I tried this paint. I live in central New York, so we get all kinds of weather and aside from the fact that this paint is nowhere near as bright as gold leaf, it appears to have held up well so far.
I did not use this product for exterior weather exposure, therefore, I do not feel my use pattern could honestly answer the above question. However, the product did meet my expectation for my intended purpose.
Most of the times that I use Bright Gold Metallic paint is for inside use, like frames or on wood carvings in place of gold leafing. I gave some to a friend owe used it outside in place of gold leaf. This was in the spring of 2015 and it still looks good. I would think that in the Florida sun, Bright Gold would look good for 3 to 6 years.
I used on trim with indirect sun and also sealed with SIKKENS Cetol Marine Gloss. Seems to be holding very well after 2.5 years. CHECK WITH MANUFACTURE FOR RECOMMENDED APPLICATION INTENSE EXPOSURE TO SUN!
I've used this product for decorative painting on exterior door in northern Vermont, very different environment then the one you mention. This paint is very durable, so I'd give it a try. It may be that you'd need to refresh it every 10 years or so due the climate. Try a boat builder in the same area for other recommendations.
Sample of gold color, Super bright metallic paint?
It was super bright gold.
Yes it's bright and actually looks like gold.
I used it to re-do the lettering on a carved sign for our development. It worked very well and was quite metallic.
What would you suggest as a clear coat with shine for the Sheffield metallic paint gold? this is on a metal gate, outside full sun.
I painted the Spears on my metal gate with Sheffield Gold about four years ago and they still have a great luster. It's an outside gate in Tampa Florida. I doubt that clear coating will extend the life of the gold. I would just paint it Gold and be done with it. I have no doubt that the life of the paint alone will pass five years without any significant loss in luster.
Hi there,i would suggest a gloss polyeurithane. i have had good success with that, although some brands are yellower than others so read reviews. clear enamels tend to be way to goopy and yellow. laquer works well too.good luck,m
I would agree with Max G. I have used this paint on many different projects and surfaces and it is a great product and covers well. I did however, use it in the greenhouse and it turned green which may have been caused by something in a fertilizer. Don't take chances. Coat it with either a lacquer or clear, high-gloss poly to be safe. The gold is really bronze filings and we all know acid rain can turn that green.
I have never used a clear coat over the gold. I had stayed a nice shiny gold for over 8 years - it's the best gold to use and we paint all our sign letters with it.
can it be used on painted walls in a bathroom?
Just make sure the surface to be painted is prepped like light sanding to give it "tooth". Also, a clear coat over spray like polyurethane will protect from moisture.
Sure. It rains on the sign I made using this paint.
Can it be used for painting a whole wall?
Can I varnish over Sheffield super bright gold metalic paint ? I am lettering on teak wood name plate . Not sure if I apply varnish then letter or letter first then apply marine varnisk after
I used this paint on the bootstripe for my boat. After it had cured for a few days, I covered it with 3 coats of clear polyurethane; it still has a shine. Just make sure the paint is dry before varnishing.
letter first then varnish
Excellent and easily applied coating
We have used this a couple of times. Both brush and spray application. The end result has been first class. Very satisfied.
I purchased this to infill routed letters on a new nameplate for my boat. It was relatively easy to install with a small, flat, art brush. The finished product looks very nice. Since the nameplate has only been on the boat a few days, I cannot attest to its longevity. A tip on installation in this tedious job of painting inside the letters after the teak nameplate had been varnished: It was impossible to not have some overrun at the edges, which I let "set" for a few minutes, then used Q tips with mineral spirits to wipe off the overrun.

Paint was perfect. Job turned out very good.
After using other brand of paint and was dissatisfied, I checked with you for information and decided to take a chance and ordered the Super Bright Gold. I used a brush to apply paint on 1-25 & 26-2018 (weather permitting} Turned out PERFECT! I have enjoyed your video. Thank you.
This paint is easy to use and gave my outdoor lights the finished look I wanted but never had achieved with other paints.
Happy in Sarasota
Nice rich color
Rich color good longevity.
Used this paint to refinish an old steel church bell. Brushed on easily with a high quality brush with no brush strokes showing. Applied two coats. Truly a high quality product. Will see how it holds up in the South Louisiana sun.
Best gold paint I have ever used

I used this paint on the aluminum finials in our front rail fence two years ago. I waited to write this review to see how the paint held up. It has remained as beautiful as new even after being subjected to sprinklers, a hurricane (Irma) and the strong Florida sun. In my opinion, the fence looks better now than when we installed it with factory gold finials. I wire brushed and primed the aluminum finials before I applied this paint. I don't know if the pictures do it justice.I'm also very impressed with Jamestown Distributors.
Super Bright Gold? Nope.
Jamestown is awesome, Sheffield Paint is awesome, Super Bright Gold is not awesome, more of a bronze. Not the bright gold color I need. I guess this could simulate cheaper/darker gold leaf with other alloys mixed in...maybe.... but 23.75 or 24K gold leaf? Not even close.
A great paint. It performs as advertised.
For painting an outside sign, painting a foam eagle, and redoing some picture frames.
