Teleflex Osprey low profile, dual action side mount controls suitable for most single engine, single station boats.
Osprey controls are available with several different options such as with a black or chrome face plate, power trim/tilt control and an emergency cutoff switch (aka ignition stop switch).
Each control features a balanced handle design that provides exceptional smoothness when shifting or throttling up. All controls include start in gear protection and a neutral interlock button that allows you to advance the throttle while in neutral for faster engine warm ups.
Designed for use with both Universal (3300 series) and OEM Shift and Throttle Cables
The one I bought broke after one season of use. Next time I will look for one with metal control points. The plastic housing cracked and it no longer would go into reverse and catch the throttle advance. You get what you pay! Mark Jones
Not sure, I used it on a 115 Merc. The Manufacturer should be able to tell you.
I HAVE AN OLD UNIFLIGHT BOAT WITH A SINGLE LEVEL CONROL BOTH FRO SHIFTING AND SPEED. IT IS A SIDE MOUNT. NEED A NEW CONTROL FOR SINGLE ENGINE. WILL THW TELEFLEX WORK?THANKS, KARL GOTTFRIED
It should work for you just fine, mine had adapters for my cables ,as yours should too
Not sure. I purchased and installed the teleflex as a repalcment "in kind" to a quiksilver control. I expect that if the cables are compatible, you should be able to make it work, but that is just an assumption/suspicion.Good Luck
I bought it last year. Used it on my 115 Merc OB. Switched right over. I did have to create a larger hole in the gunwale of the boat. I couldn't jockey the part that was suppose to go inside the gunwale, so I created a larger holeand wound up mounting it on a piece of diamond-plate. This gave it a lot more rigidity and stability.
The TEL-1751P would be your best bet for this application.
I just need tilt with my control will the trim wiring do the same job?
Yes ,it will, it's just a switch, the trim height stop is part of the trim controls. It will tilt your motor as long as you hold the button. But be careful not to accidently hit the button while underway as it will tilt (or try to) and can damage your tilt system (or worse). It is easy to accidently hit the switch because of it's location.Another solution would be to install a rocker switch on the dash (or wherever) to control the tilt, and just get the control without trim/tilt buttons.Hope this helps.
I think it will work out ok. The shifter I replaced had Trim/tilt on the handle, and a "trailer" button for raising the lower unit up all the way. This shifter is setup the same way. Since the trim/tild and the trailer are separate switches i would imagine you will have no problems. I am no expert so you may want to get another opinion
Yes it will.
Yes i just hooked up tilt also did not hook up trim
If you order the remote with trim.
Guys,I bought this controller and love the ergonomics. I hooked up all of the cables and tilt / trim connections. The only problem that I have is that in order to trim the outdrive up, I have to use the side up button simultaneously with the handle up button. This should be the tilt only. My trim up is not working. Did anyone else have an issue with this?
Thanks George,I installed it wire for wire based on instructions and old controller harness and it did not work. I am scratching my head about it. It seems as though the unit I received has been into as one of the phillips head screws has been turned out. Anyway, thanks for your insigjt
Bolted in controller operates normal
sounds like you (or whom ever installed it) has wired it incorrectly.
If the unit has been opened, and subsequently returned, it sounds like someone has "monkeyed" with it. The unit I have works great, and I know others that are equally happy with the controller. If you are sure about the wiring you performed, open up the unit and see what was "touched". Or, see about returning it for a new unmolested controller.Good luck
Does the CH1751P thumb button operate the trim/Tilt for a Yamaha?
this switch has the standard 3 wire hookup. As far as i know yamaha and any other trim unit uses a 3 wire setup like this for control of the trim.
I have a 88 Glastron with a 4.3L XL. Will this hook up to my existing cables or will new cables be required?
It will hook up to your existing cables
Hello I just recently purchased this unit and I will say it comes with all the necessary adapters for almost all cables. The biggest issue is I had to cut a much larger hole to fit it in the gunale. They do give you a template for cutting. A lot will depend on your setup now. You can go to Teleflex website for the template and see what you will have to do to mount this unit.I will say I really like using it and do it again.
I read all the documents on the unit and they it will hook up to everything. I am not familiar with a 4.3 XL but the it unit is a universal hook up.I was very impressed with the unit when it arrived. The whole unit construction is so much more than anything that comes stock on most boats.I plan on installing mine this weekend.
