MET / STD:
can you use these nuts with silicone bronze fasteners?
Usually not recommended to mix metals so galvanic corrosion doesn't occur.
Are these 18-8 SS nuts suitable for above the waterline re-fastening of lapstrake planks in a salt water environment? They will be plugged over with bungs on the outside but only painted over on the inside. I am concerned the 18-8 SS corrosion resistance is not suitable compared to 316 SS or the original silicone-bronze fasteners.
Painted over 18-8 will be better than non paint, silicone bronze would be the best choice but not available.
I only want one box, is this possible?
Yes, you can get in boxes of 100 nuts.
When yer stuck you are stuck
Bought these nuts to fasten two cabin bulkheads to the main cabin beam on my skiff. Plus they are always good to have when replacing a plank. Problem with these was that the 1st two I took out of the box would not thread onto the screw. I have not checked but suspect that these were threaded at 32 TPI instead of 24 TPI. The stock may have been mixed but how do you tell until you get there and it is too late? Product is ok if you get what you ordered. Good luck.
