Blue Water Marine
I have a 1968 Sears "Gamefisher", aluminum boat that I want to refinish. The original color was marine Green, but the previous owners painted the boat with latex paint, and the paint peeled off when placed in the water. The boat is trailered, so I need a paint that is a hard, slick finish. I have stripped the latex paint off--not to the bare metal, except in spots. I want to paint the bottom either white or light grey and above the waterline royal blue. How do I go about doing this? What products do I use? What do I use to seal rivets below the waterline?
You can repair/coat the rivets with TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Leak Sealer. The bare spots should be coated with TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Barrier Coat Primer, you can leave that as your bottom paint or overcoat with a single part polyurethane if you don't keep the boat in the water more than a day or two. Look at Totalboat Wet Edge topside paint.

I purchased this brand of primer and paint to finish the deck of my charterboat. All prep work was done per the instructions. The paint flowed well enough, and coverage was good. Unfortunately, it is not durable at all in traffic areas on the deck. The paint scratches and scuffs up easily. It appears that I will have to refinish my decks again next year. Pretty dissapointed with this product.

have not received om order from you yet
sorry. I cant rate this product because I have not received it from you yet. Richard o
I used this paint to cover the surfaces of a wooden darkroom style sink, that is located in a very humid area. so far the paint is holding up very well to all the mositure and chemicals.
Brush Marks Horrible; Do Not Recommend!
I bought several gallons of this to paint my new boat I built. I can not be more displeased with this paint!! This paint will not flow out as advertised no matter what amount of naptha is added per the instructions! I bought Pettit EasyPoxy for my gray color and was MUCH more pleased than with this stuff. Spend the very few extra bucks and buy something better like Pettit!! Otherwise use at your own peril. I am going to contact Blue Water Marine paint and express my dissatisfaction with them as well.
Experience may be required
I strongly recommend the directions on the can for thinning are justified. Works great "strait" for filling out defects such as furring out fiberglass seams, Or filling in the screen texture, As well surface scratches. After which when your boat is ready for painting. (Note strait does not flow) Yet its my preferred manner! Wet sand and thine it down for your finish. This is all based on rolling! Expect detail work to have a edge to it. PS My boat spends 99% of the time out of water!
I have to adjust my opinion on this pain
I did a previous review of this paint..and felt it was pretty good, but after having watched it go to pot in past couple of months...growing mold on a southern exposure...and chalking up within 6 months of being put on... I have to say that what ever I have left over of this paint will be limited to use in the bilge or elsewhere!! Very disappointing!!
alumacaft flat bottom boat
The finish is slick and durable.
Not that great a paint
This paint does not flow out at all. Stay away from it. Get any other one part marine gloss. I did roll and tip in perfect weather with two peo-ple at 10% thinning reduction. Interior semi gloss latex would do better than this stuff.
Pleased with this product.
I found the product to perform as advertised. If put on an unprimed surface it will take more paint, however if primed with their primer...less paint and better surface is obtained.

About the same as Rust-oleum
Inexpensive topside paint average gloss, very thick paint. Covers well just takes a lot of paint per square foot. I would compare it to Rust-oleum gloss white, but its about twice the cost. Next time I will spend a little more and get petit.
