Bilge Pump Hose
Can you join 2 sections together with a tight seal?
I used this hose to add a loop to my bilge pump output. It's been a while but it has been working fine and I notice no leaks.
You can join 2 sections together with a hose-to-hose union fitting of the appropriate size and hose clamps.

Is this hose smooth bore?
No, its ribbed like the outside. Having said that, i use it for bilge discharge and seems to work fine.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
It's rifled. The ends are smooth to put on the pump and thru-hulls.
No. They are corrugated inside, just like outside.
No it is not. It is standard bilge hose.
I'm in Australia at the moment so can't look, but to my best recollection it is notSent from Yahoo Mail on Android
No, the hose for the most part has the corrugated feel on the inside and out, but every foot there is a smooth spot like you see in the photo for plumbing connections.

Is this hose sensitive to sunlight?
It's typically used where the sun doesn't shine, so I can't say if it is uv inhibited or not.
how long is this hose?
The hose is sold by the foot.Either remove the old hose and measure, or estimate the approximate route of the hose and add several feet for curves and routing. It always takes more hose than you think.
This is sold by the foot, so the quantity you order will be the length of the hose.
Is this hose suitable for self bailing cockpits and/or galley sinks?
if I order 10 feet of hose, does it come as one piece or in 10 one foot sections? ... thanks
It will come as one 10 foot section.
do I match sizes of hoses and thru hull fittings by just using the same diameter? In other words, if the measurement on the thru hull fitting is 1 1/8" then I get the pump hose at 1 1/8" also. Want to get it right the first time I order.
Yes, you are correct, match hose ID to OD of the thru hull fitting, so for the 1-1/8" thru hull the correct hose ID is 1-1/8"
Hose is measured on the inside diameter of the hose. 1 1/8" is the inside diameter of the hose. However, when measuring your thru hull fitting, you measure the fitting neck where the hose would clamp onto the fitting past the barb (flaired end where you shove the hose over). This measurement should be a slightly bigger than 1 1/8" to allow for a snug fit. You can also measure the inside diameter of the thru hull fitting, but you will find this to be somewhat smaller than 1 1/8" due to the wall thickness of the fitting.
Correct. I believe that this hose is measured by the ID (inside diameter). If you order 1 1/8 hose that means it should fit over a 1 1/8 fitting.
Yes you get a hose diameter that is the same as the barb fitting on the threw hull. It's a tight fit and you will have to push with some force but the hose will stretch around the barb.
Is there an adapter to go from rul-80 (1-1/8) to standard 1-1/4 plumbing fittings?
This hose is intended as a bildge pump discharge hose and should be routed from a bildge pump discharge to a through hull fitting or grey water discharge above the warter line only, that is why it is so cheap. If you are connecting a sink to a thru hull fitting below the waterline you need to use a good quality hose such as bellowsflex that can be purchased a a local industrial hose distributor, It is wire wound which keeps it from collapsing plus it is tough and is not subject to bending or breaking. If you want to sink your boat use the cheaper hose but it is not designed to be used under the water line.
I would highly recomend this product
able to route right off the reel it came on without the hose trying to recoil
I will be buying more of this product
Fits the Attwood Tsunami 1200 GPH Bilge Pump. These Hoses are not easy to find. I am very greatful that JD had it!

Best place to buy this hose!
Pump cycling causes leaks over time.
I suggest using smooth bore reinforced hose.

Works well for an array of uses
I have used this hose for bilges on Boats as well as swiming pool pumps and seems to hold up very well.
Don't "Set It and Forget It"
After about 10 years, the aging hose cracked at the cuff where it was clamped to the emergency bilge pump. I doubt any liquid had ever passed through it nor had it ever seen any sunlight. This sort of subtle failure could easily result in the loss of a boat. If you install this hose, best to check its condition annually.

Fits the bill
this product economically fits the bill for longer runs of tubing - very light and easy to install. Time will tell how durable it ends up being
