What is the purpose of the dual stud configuration? Is it to allow attachment of more than one input/output without crowding the single stud?
Yes it would allow more than one input/output without crowding a single stud. But there's more...Each stud has it's own fuse. One stud could be used for a small sub panel with a lower (30) amp fuse and the second stud could have a high (80) amp fuse used for a larger panel or high amperage devices. The lower amp stud would not need the heavy gauge wire that the high amp stud would require saving a little cost.
In my mind, it can serve two purposes:1) as you suggest, it can provide more space on the studs, or allow you to have only one cable connected to each stud.2) in my application, it allows me to have utilize two different fuse sizes - a 75 amp fuse for a battery combiner and a 30 amp fuse for a solar panel.Permits a nice, clean installation.
Very simple and functional.when you add in the cost of fuses (original and replacements), it gets a bit expensive, but is still great for the right application.
