Is "Sand Cast Brass" shiny?
Yes, these were polished very nicely and really set off the oak trunk I built.
When talking about how 'shiny' a finish is, there are two main factors to consider: -The texture (a smooth surface looks shinier than a textured one)-The colour Generally cast brass is "textured" or somewhat porous and so often has a mat appearance. That being said, it is brass and can either be polished to a 'shiny' finish (making it both smoother and brighter) or, if unlaquered, can tarnish and develop a darker patina.I hope this helps
It has a sheen and looks very nice. I was very satisfied with the purchase.
The one I got was shiny. It had a glossy protective clear coat on the brass.
The hasp does have a bright finish which can be polished additionally
Yes. Shiny, and well finished.
Yes they were shiny.
I don't know a lot about this, but there are a few things to be aware of. The first is that 'shininess' depends on the coarseness of the sand used. Jewelers sand is almost a powder that yields a matte finish. Brass plumbing fixtures are generally made with a coarser sand. Brass can be polished and buffed, even the sand finish to have dull shine, especially the fine sand. The really brilliant shine comes from brass that has been machined and polished. Other types of casting with different molds yield a finer finish that can readily polished to a high gloss. Many manufacturers, when they have achieved a shiny finish will then put a clear finish on it to preserve the shine...i note this especially with hardware store hinges and hasps, etc. It has the same effect as a clear finish car makers routinely put over paint these days.
Yes, it is shiny.

Excellent Product and Quality
The product quality is first rate. Unfortunately the shipping is way too high. The shipping cost as much as the product.
Cast brass hasps
Great for some antique display cases for an antique store!
Chip the fixit man!
used as a furniture catch.
Brass Locking Hasps added a sturdy traditional touch
I used the hasps on access doors to forward storage in my SCAMP Cuddy area. It compliments the brass hinges, cleats and padeyes very nicely. As always, items shipped and delivered promptly.
COLLEGE GROVE, TN
are of better quality & price than most
Great for quality hope and blanket chests and would also be for trunks and tool boxes.
Couldn't beat the price, even though not quite as "heavy" as they appear in the picture and lighter than the OEM latches on my Grady. If made from brass with a quality chrome finish as specified should hold up for several years.
Virginia Beach, VA
