Interlux Brightside Polyurethane

Interlux Brightside Polyurethane is the most technically advanced one-part polyurethane available. It contains unique additives that make cleaning easier and help reduce stains and abrasion.

Brightside uses Polyflow 4000, a unique polyurethane resin, which yields excellent flow and leveling characteristics as well as incredible abrasion and chemical resistance. Brightside also takes advantage of the latest in ultraviolet technology which insures longer color and gloss retention.

Together these technologies create a one-part polyurethane which gives the look of a two-part polyurethane with the application ease of a one-part enamel.

so far so good

I have done a 2 square foot test patch, roll and tip. This paint goes on easily, and evens out nicely. I thinned it out first. After drying, the paint seems fairly hard. After the test patch, I was convinced to use the paint for the sides of my boat above the waterline.

I have been using the Interlux brighside polyurethane paint for over twenty years and so I can't compare it to other urethane paints either one part or two part, but this is what I like about it: it has great flow out and produces a nice, very hard, high gloss finish whether you use a brush, sprayer or roll and tip method. It needs to be thinned somewhat right out of the can which I also like because it extends the amount of paint you're buying. The thinner I use is "brush ease 333". The finish stays hard and glossy for years, scuffs nicely for additional coats and is compatible with a flattening agent if you prefer a semi gloss or matte finish. All around great paint.

Work surfaces in long slow strokes first perpendicular to finish stroke then "tip out" with light even strokes with the grain

Great product, turned out like a mirror! I still cannot believe this finish was rolled and tipped, it looks sprayed! I used foam 4" hotdog rollers and tipped with a good quality bristle brush, working in small sections and keeping a wet edge. Sanding between coats with very fine Scotch Brite, looks amazing. Note: this paint is not recommended for below the waterline however several other users have had great results doing so, for a trailered boat that wont spend more than 24 hours afloat it can be used with great success.
