Overwhelmingly, customers said they would use it again and recommend this paint to a friend. Here are some actual survey comments:

  • "Easy application & great cleanup"

  • "Terrific value. I am very pleased with the performance. Thanks"

  • "There was a strong bloom of mussels that affected everyone, and I felt that the JD paint did as well as any. I think it is a great deal, and I love it being water-based."

  • "Ran out of old paint and used yours to finish keel & rudder. One coat only, covered with excellent results"

  • "The ease of application was excellent. the paint did not settle out in the can so I didn't have to spend any time stirring it ahead of time"

The ease of application with its forgiving drying speed and then simple water clean up is truly phenomenal.

During the season scum-scrubs were easy and almost no color migration into the water or onto hands or pads.

The Top-Tracer coat hardly even ablated from June to November even with mid season scrubs and especially the waterline.

I was not present when hauled and pressure washed but the usual remaining dried scum under the straps was maybe less or the same as normal. The bottom truly looks ready to launch, as is, next June and that too is phenomenal. I just have to pop app 10-12 barnacles off . . . . .

Exceptionally glad I tried this product and highly recommend for our bay.

Boat is kept in Sippican Harbor in Marion.

First season with this paint. At Labor Day, the bottom looked good. Hauled after columbus day. bottom was very bad. a lot of soft and hard growth. The soft growth came off with powerwashing. The hard growth took 6 hours to scrape and sand smooth. Not thrilled!

HOWEVER, I will not condem the product yet. The boat sat for 6 weeks without being moved due to bad weather.

Also I put one coat on. Normally, one coat of paint will take 1.5 gallons. This paint took .75 gallon. The film layer was a lot thinner than the last product I used. Perhaps the film thickness caused the underwhelming performance.

I will try 2 coats next year and re-test.

Normally I get 2 seasons out of one coat. If this takes 2 coats to get the same performance, thats fine, as it went on smooth and thin (a good thing).

If I end up only getting one season, then the value of the paint is less than the last paint I used, which I got 2 seasons out of one coat.

I will give it the benefit of the doubt for now, that the error was on my application of the product.
