Need the minimum diameter that the lock clamp on. I have 1" diameter paddles
It appears that 1-3/8" is about the smallest diameter that these will clamp to. Other customers have wrapped leather, neoprene or other rubber material around the oar to make these work in cases such as yours.

Hi,My oar is 1 and 1/2 in diameter, works well. Checked the clamp on a baseball bat handle, about an inch, too small for this clamp!Regards

We don't have anything in stainless the only other option is Seachoice Clamp-On Oarlock chrome-plated Zamak, a strong Zinc alloy used in many marine applications focusing on durability.
Is there a minimum and maximum size shaft that these will fit?
If you are talking about the adjustable part you can shim using cork wrap or gasket material. If you are talking about the shaft pin I believe it is a standard oar lock size.Hope this helps
The perfect size oar shaft diameter is 1-5/8". If an oar is smaller in diameter that that, wrap the shaft at the spot where you will be placing the oar lock with duct tape or leather in order to take up the slack. Kind of a red neck solution, but it works perfectly. Had to do this with a pair of basswood oars and it worked fine.
in my experience, all shafts are standardized, meaning thay are all the same size...in other words "one size fits all.

hi can you tell me about the screws & bolts used?
We got them as a gift for someone else. I think they are 1/4 inch bolts (approx.) with a nut.
I HAVE NOT PUT THEM ON MY OARS YET, BUT I THINK THE BOLTS ARE GALVANIZED 1/4'' WITH NUTS. THEY SEEM TO BE HEAVY DUTY FOR THE JOB, AND THE PRICE OF THE OARLOCKS.

Not much to it. The stem fits into the hole on the side of the boat. You put the oar into the clamp and bolt both together. I'm going to change mine to a butterfly nut so I can adjust the length of the oar easier. And I tied a shoe string to the oar itself so the oar will not slip out of the oar locking clamp and fall into the water. Hope it helps.sue
I have a set of these and they won't stay in the socket. my scocket is about 3" long. and mine barley come out the bottom, no way to put a pin in to hold , and there is not a hole for a pin. how do i make my oars stay in the scocket? I have a 1955 v bottom alumminum boat three seater.the side mount scocket was made in the boat?
hi I bought the oar locks with the pins. But found out they would not fit my boat, so I got this type as shown on your post. It does fit my boat and I havent tried it out on th ewater as yet. If you still have the name of the manufacturer who makes the oar locks, maybe they would have a solution. I guess you know the pin has to rotate with the oars. You probably also know that you need a longer pin. Otherwise, I guess you could jam some leather or material that wouldn't shred in the hole to take up the empty space and still allow the pin to rotate. Sorry I don't have a better answer. Good luck.
probably need new sockets I have perko sockets with nylon bushings and can barely get the pins in with grease
Iva D: I, too, have an older v-bottom aluminum fishing boat that did not have any oar sockets, but I wanted oars in case my old Johnson "Seahorse" 5.5hp motor stopped working. Based on your description (a picture would have helped), it sounds like your oar socket is inside (and possibly lower than) the gunwale (or gunnel, the outermost and uppermost edge of any small boat). So, when you are in the pull stroke, your oar is touching the gunwale and, because there is no pin to limit its movement, the oar lifts out of your socket. I suggest you purchase either the EDGEMOUNT OARLOCK SOCKETS or the TOP MOUNT OARLOCK SOCKETS which should be installed on the gunwale itself. I'd recomment the Edgemount because it is easier to install. The Topmount is trickier to install and requires a very large drillbit (7/8-inch) which cost me thirty bucks. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Not the best looking but do the job very well and easy to install.
The product is not up to the standard I hoped for. The clamp itself does not form a perfect circle around the shaft of the oar and the nuts and bolts are just garbage. I will be replacing them with stainless hardware. The price is great but your customers deserve better.
Had to modify to adapt to the aluminum oars purchased prior. The oarlocks may work best with the larger diameter wooden oars. I drilled through each clamp and secured to the smaller aluminum shafts with stainless steel sheet metal screws.
