Teleflex Hydraulic Fill Kit for all inboard/outboard, outboard, and inboard Seastar hydraulic helms. Kit includes fill tube and push-pin to vent. Check filling system periodically for leaks. If leaks are found, correct before using. Failure to correct a leak can lower the oil level in your boat's steering system, resulting in loss of steering. Not intended for former Teleflex hydraulic systems, except the SyTen System. For outboards only.
One single station requires 2 quarts of Seastar hydraulic fluid to fill.

Helms mounted with wheel shaft completely horizontal must be filled to bottom of filler hole at all times. Do not allow oil level to drop more than 1/4 inch (6.3 mm)
Helms mounted on a 20-degree angle or with the wheel shaft vertical should have an oil level within 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) of hole
do you need this tool just to add to the system ?
We bought a boat with bridge removed for interstate hauling. 2 people added oil successfully on first try. The job could have been very messy without the kit. Minimizes or eliminates oil spills.
Yes, not practical to try to fobricate yourself
Yea, On my 2009 Lund I connected one end of hose to a port on top of steering console and the other end on the quart of fluid. No mess .
It sure helps! I think you might find it at auto parts store.
what is the sequence to add fluid to system?
First Name Last Name
The easiest way is to get a filler kit at your local boaters store or from the place you bought the steering kit. Follow the instructions. It is easy. It is best to have two people. One at the helm and one at that cylinder. It just like bleeding brakes on a car. I hope this is helpful.
System easy to load with fluid but use filler attachment and start with 3/4 full quart fluid : easier to purge air back into container as you fill,As filling ,turn steering wheel hard to port than back hard to starboard , keeping repeating as system fills lines and air is purged from system . Takes 15 minutes roughly to fill , check all couplings to see no leaks and snug tight
does the filler tube come with the sea star hydraulic fluid?that you need to pour it into the steering wheel?
I had to purchase the filler tube separately.
No the pump does not come with refill oil. I guess you have to order it separately
Yes , easy to do . I changed my seals bled the system all with the kit
Worked great, but over priced!
the product worked great! Easy to use and steering is back in order. Kept me from going to the local marina for $125/hr. But, it could have cost half the price and I'm sure they would have still made 1000% on it. I was in a pinch and needed to get it done.
Works great. Much better then trying to rig something up.
