The vintage Sta-Set by New England Ropes is ideal for use aboard traditional vessels. It is high strength, low stretch, extremely durable, and remains soft over time. It is also easy to handle and easy to splice. Spools are 600 feet in length, or can be ordered by the individual foot (cut-footage is non-returnable).

I need to replace aged halyards on a 17' sailboat. What line is suitable for this purpose and what size line do I need or is recommended?
New England Ropes Sta-Set is a great option for most things except competitive racing for halyards on a boat like yours. The diameter of rope is dependent on the masthead sheave and what size it will take, any other hardware that the line needs to work with, and also a size that you can handle most comfortably (larger lines tend to feel easier on most people's hands, rather than tiny ones that are very tight and feel like they are cutting in to your hands). My guess is your boat will accept something between 3/16" and 5/16".

Perfect line for a small wooden boat!
I bought this line to use on my restored wooden canoe and it didn't disappoint. Looks classic but strong enough for what I need. I'm buying more for my next canoe...
Looks great on a classic boat
Purchased this line to replace old sheets on my catboat, it's easy to splice and looks good against the cream colored sail.
