The Megaware KeelGuard attaches to powerboat keels to provide protection against abrasive sand, rocks, concrete ramps, oyster beds and other underwater hazards.
Similar in concept to a traditional sacrificial rub strake used on dinghies for dragging up the beach, KeelGuards easily attach to your boat with a strong adhesive bond and readily adapt to hull contours for seamless protection.
Unprotected keels risk incurring gelcoat damage. Even small dings in gelcoat finishes can allow moisture intrusion that ultimately damages fiberglass laminates. Not just a protective device, KeelGuards also maximize efficient water flow to maintain like-new performance like top speed, handling, and tracking on smaller boats and personal watercraft.

KeelGuards are generally mounted 4 to 6 inches above the waterline on the bow, ending 2 to 3 feet beyond the lowest point of the keel. Everything needed to professionally install is included, and step-by-step instructions are located under the links section of this page.
Note: If your trailer is designed such that the entire weight of the boat rests on rollers or a support beam along the keel, we do not recommend installing a KeelGuard. If the rollers can be lowered or the side bunks raised to clear the keel protector, the adhesive bond will not be compromised. May not be suitable for some aluminum boats with reinforced rib design.
See instructions to achieve proper high strength bond to hull surface.
compatible with a painted wood keel hull ?
It will only stick as well as the paint adheres to the wood.

How do I re-glue the keel guard to the boat?
You can use West System G/Flex; "WSY-650K". This is a great product that has a lot of other applications as well, thank you.NathanJD Store(401)253-3840 ex130< a href="http://firstname.lastname@example.org" target="_blank">email@example.com< /a>
Nathan, when I enter product code WSY-650K I get the product code WSY-650 8. Is this the G/Flex product I need to order?
Yes, this is the (2) 4oz. bottles (WSY-650-8), the (WSY-650-K) is the same product but in a kit with some gloves, stir sticks, and cabosil which will help to thicken the product out and help which is why i recommended the "K", but either can be used, thank you.NathanJD Store(401)253-3840 ex.130
Hi Is the 6ft and the 8ft KeelGuard the same width and thickness? I have a 20ft boat but only want to use a shorter strip.ThanksRandal
The keel guards are all the same width and thickness. 5" wide.
do you make this in 11ft length?
We do not manufacture anything. It appears 8ft is the longest.
How do you remove a damaged keel guard in the replacement process?
You can try to heat up the product carefully, and start peeling at the corners, thank you.NathanJD Store(401)253-3840 ex130
Insufficient primer in kit
Easy to install
Installed in less than an hour.
Easy way to protect your boat
Easy to install.
Haven't tested it long enough to see if it is durable yet. Prep work wasn't excessive and application was fairly simple. Not sure what the problem would be if the keelguard has weight resting on it at the pads.
Texas--no place like it
Great Product (KeelGuard)
Great product, does exactly what it's made to do. Just take your time and install it properly. Installs easily.

I installed my keel guard in 45 minutes
I installed my new Megaware Keelguard in under an hour. It was fairly simple some prep (very important) is required. I am very pleased and would consider buying it again. The 3M 5200 is a little messy to work with and takes a few days to cure but, an added advantage.
