The repair kit works, but don''t expect an easy installation. The exploded diagram on the website for the MK2 is accurate, but not easy to follow. The MK2 is an archaic bit of engineering with its long brass bolts and patent nuts with screwdriver slots. To reassemble the pump you need to hold the whole assembly in place against the main spring. I was only able to accomplish that using a bench vice. Not because it was a strong spring, but simply because you would otherwise need 3 or 4 hands at once to hold the whole wiggly mass together. Warning about the MK3 pump. I also have what is labeled a MK3. It is clearly an attempt by Whale to simplify and improve their engineering. However, the exploded view of the pump on the website is not the same as the guts of my pump. And there is no explanation of the website about an interim design. Fortunately, the diaphragms were ok, so Instead of repairing my pump, I just was able to clean it out and reassemble it carefully adding some gasketing where needed. I have emailed Whale to find out the story on why my pump is not reflected in the diagram, but no response yet.
