Not durable.
By --PB from Maine

On the used boat we bought were two-- one the plastic top, the other the stainless top. The plastic top was pretty much disintegrated. The "guts" of the stainless one, crumbling. The only part stainless on the stainless one is the very top-- the rest is plastic that is going to crumble. We just bought two Vetus mushroom vents-- stainless on the top, and the inside ring. I think they will last.

They work well but are not durable
By doublewide from Iowa

Our boat came with three Beckson Vent O Mates on the hatches. They ventilate OK and keep the water out. BUT, they fall apart after about 3-4 years' exposure to the sun. I have replaced all of them at least once. I have spoken with Beckson about the problem. The plastic base gets crumbly like chalk and then one day the dome falls off. I have seen no improvement in their materials since I spoke to them. I keep replacing them because they fit the holes in my hatches. If you don't already have a 4 inch hole in your hatch, don't buy Beckson. Look for a more durable product.

Plastic cover disintegrates when exposed
By Bob from Pittsburgh Pa

I mounted this in a 4 inch hole I cut into my deck. After only two seasons, the plastic vents on the cover became brittle and disintegrated. I thought it would be more weather resistant due to the nature of the product requiring it to be exposed to the elements. Now I have to find a replacement that requires a 4 inch hole.

Not very durable
By Bob from Pittsburgh Pa

This product was installed in April 2012 and was exposed to summer sun for only two seasons. The grill on the cover is disintegrating due to ultra violet light exposure. The plastic used should be more resistant to sun exposure due to the nature of how the product should be used. Now I have to find a better replacement that requires a 4 inch hole that I had to put in my deck to install this poorly designed product.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
