WEST System G/flex 655-K Plastic Boat Repair Kit Customer Questions and Answers

Question

Has anyone tried using West Systems 423 Graphite low friction additive with the G-flex 655 K epoxy on a royalex canoe? I am very experienced with West Systems and recently installed kevlar skid plates on my Penebscot 17 with the G-flex kit for a 35 mi trip on the Ontonagon which punishes boats. Skids turned out great and took the beating but i'm wondering if the graphite additive to the G-flex would be a bonus skim coat on the entire bottom of my boat. Wondering if anyone has tried it? Otherwise I may post my results after

I'm not aware of it being tried but theoretically itwould decease friction between the kevlar and the rocks.

Question

Will G-Flex adhere to Hypalon used on inflatable dinghys? Need to reattach transom to tubes.

Yes, it will adhere to Hypalon quite well. I would use it in areas that you don't need a lot of flexibility as the epoxy will give a little rigidity to the area. Always test a small spot to verify that it bonds well enough for your intended application.
