does the purple/white stripe wire hook up to the battery connect on the switch?
Asked on 07/23/2011 by UndisclosedI replaced an original ignition/starter switch that was on my 1955 -18' Chris Craft Continental. I hooked the wires up exactly as the other switch was wired. I do not know how your motor is wired. The battery wire connects to the selenoid of the starter and provides the hot side of the switch to start the engine. When the engine is started it powers all of the other items, gauges, pump, etc. You need to look at a wiring diagram for your boat or motor to see how the wires are coded. My wires were 55 years old so I didn't have any color code. Hope you get it going.
