Answer

I bought this switch because it was the exact replacement part for my boat. It really had nothing to do with my Merc. The connectiins all matched the factory part and was very easy to install.

Answer

Not sure. I installed this on a 1985 Suntracker Party Barge that was repowered with a 90 hp 4 Stroke Mercury outboard. Works fine on this.

Answer Question

Question

what is the wiring color code when installing this switch?

Asked on 05/13/2012 by Undisclosed

Top Answer

Using the diagram from Jamestown Distributors the 6:00 position marked M would be the black ground wire. The 7:00 position marked B would be the red wire. The 10:00 position marked M would be the black/yellow wire. The 11:00 position would be the Yellow/ black wire. The 1:00 position marked I would be the purple wire. The 2:00 position marked S would be the yellow/ red wire. Disconnect battery before doing any electrical work. This color code was given to me by a mercury dealer and worked on my boat and motor.

Answer

I found that all boats for the most part have different wire colors due to repairs etc, I just looked at the old part which was still connected and it was marked the same so basically A wire went to A etc. Hope this helps.

Answer Question

Question

how do you install the ignition switch?

Asked on 05/27/2013 by Undisclosed

Top Answer

The switch install was easy for me. I removed my existing switch and replaced it with the new one. I actually took a picture of the existing switch wiring combination and then duplicated it with new switch install. Everything works great.

Question

what are the color of the wires going from this switch to the fuse block?

Asked on 11/03/2011 by Undisclosed

Top Answer

I bought this switch for a 2000 Procraft bass boat, with 150hp Merc. I tried several times installing it myself and all I did was blow fuses. I connected it exactly the same as my old switch (matching the color wires with the letters on the switch) no luck! I wound up having to take it to a boat mechanic and he had to use an om-meter. He said by this being an aftermarket switch, that the letters were different and performed different functions, so don't try to match your old switch to this one, it won't work! He hooked mine up and works great now. I know this might not help you, but it's what i had to do!
