I do not know. Have only used it on my boats gelcoat. Works great on that. I would definitely try to find out before using on clearcoat paint.

I buy it for company wide use that we use on pretty much everything. BUT! I did find this on there website. Looks to me its ok for light colors but not dark. ’¢?¥Ë_Soiled fiberglass, gel coat, single stage or lacquered paints as well as light colored clear coat; silver, white. ’¢?¥Ë_Exterior marine, automotive, RV, and aeronautical finishes ’¢?¥Ë_Tarnished chrome, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and copper (uncoated) ’¢?¥Ë_NOT recommended for coated / painted metals or dark clear coat paint.

Answer

Absolutely. It will give it a great shine. Might take a couple of rounds, especially if it hasn't been waxed in a while.

Answer

I have only used 870 on a dark green hull and the wax pad does turn green, so the wax does cut through the paint a little. Really good product!

Can 870 be used on automobiles. I just had my 2001 Ford p/u repainted about 3 months ago and was thinking of putting 870 on it to protect it from the winter road chemicals. will this hurt my paint finish?

Yes, Collinite Liquid Wax No. 870 can be used on auto finishes. It works extremely well. Actually, I use it on plexiglass, glass, as well.

Answer

I wouldn't use any marine wax on an automobile because gel coat is stronger and more durable than paint in a car, but you can use automotive wax on gel coat.

Answered on 11/07/2011 by DOMINICK KEEFE

Answer

Yes you can use 870 on your p/u...just remember it is a cleaner wax. It removes light oxidation as well as leaving a great shine. Since you just got the truck painted, I wouldnt use the 870, try the 920 its all wax. Maybe after a couple years if your paint is fading, then use the 870. Hope this helps!

Answer Question

Question

Can this be used on an rv?

Asked on 05/02/2015 by Undisclosed

We primarily bought this product to use on our boats. Was very happy with the results. Have since used it on an RV and also on our car. Can't beat the stuff. Takes all the black run marks right off the white hull and cabin. Did equally as well on RV and car. Highly recommend this product. Good Luck

Answer

The bottle states: "Exclusively for marine and aeronautical use. NOT recommended for clear coat paint" So I would say, no, although I see on their website they have waxes for the automotive industry, including an insulator wax #845 which we use very successfully on stainless steel on our boat’¢?_
