Quantum 4599 Primer Sealer Base is the base component of a two-part, fast-drying primer sealer system that can be used as a spot primer on a finished, primed surface to seal underlying products where breakthrough has occurred, or as a finish primer on prepared fiberglass and gelcoat surfaces where fairing and surfacing are not required. Overcoat with Quantum 99 Polyurethane Topcoat for a smooth, glossy finish and improved topcoat durability.

Quantum 4599 is easy to mix at a 4:1 ratio with Quantum 99 Spray Activator (required, sold separately), and easy to apply by HVLP or conventional spray gun, with excellent flow and leveling properties. This fast drying primer system can be overcoated with Quantum Quantum 99 Polyurethane Topcoat after 1 hour - without sanding.

Available in White, in Quart and Gallon sizes. Note: Requires Quantum 99 Spray Activator.

Info & Guides

Caution: Application of these product systems requires recommended temperature/humidity conditions and film thickness ranges. The material, hangar, and substrate temperature should be no lower than 45°F before, during, and after application. Do not apply paint materials to surfaces less than 5°F above the dew point, or to surfaces warmer than 125°F. Substrate temperature should be minimum 45°F to maximum 125°F.

Surface Preparation:

All surfaces: Use water, a mild abrasive detergent and a scouring pad to degrease surfaces prior to sanding.
Gelcoat/fiberglass: Abrade with 180-220 grit sandpaper.
Wood: Abrade with 180-220 grit sandpaper.
Previously painted surfaces: If no corrosion byproducts are present, abrade with 180-220 grit sandpaper to remove gloss.
Metal: Prime with Quantum 45 Chromated Epoxy Primer or Quantum Epoxy Surfacing Primer (both sold separately) prior to 4599 Primer Sealer application.
NOTE: Quantum 4599 Primer Sealer is not recommended for direct-to-metal (DTM) application
Solvent clean prior to application. Use Quantum Surface Prep Cleaner (sold separately) to remove contaminants.
