Answer Question

Question

How much psi will this hold???

Asked on 04/30/2013 by will newton

Top Answer

Will: In my application it holds zero because it is on the intake side of the pump. The construction though is very robust, the acrylic cylinder is probably about 3/8" thick so it could probably take some pressure. But it wont do your pump, whatever that is, any good if it's on the output side. Good luck, Joe W

Answered on 05/30/2013 by Kevin V

Answer

Since this is usually on the intake side it is not necessarily rated for pressure. It is important that seals are effective in preventing air intake leaks. The plexi cylinder has cork seals on top/ bottom the strainer opening has cork seal as well.

Answer Question

Question

is this the complete unit minus the fittings that screw in that will give me the barbed ends I need? This is the whole unit, the strainer, the clear cylinder, housing, etc? Many thanks. Kb

Asked on 09/24/2014 by Undisclosed

Top Answer

KB: Yes, this is the complete unit. Terribly expensive. I didn't actually buy one of these but I had an old one to rebuild. Fabricated 4 new bronze bolts and replaced the gaskets for about $30 total. Regards, Joe W

Answer Question

Question

Is the intake cylinder made of glass? Does it separate from the bottom base? What do I need to rebuild this.....gaskets etc.?

Asked on 06/17/2012 by MAK Kor

Top Answer

It is plastic. The top and bottom separate and have either cork or rubber gaskets. You can order a gasket set which has one for the lid and two, one for the top and one for the bottom. You need to get the correct type (cork or rubber).

Answer

Hi. The cylinder is made of lexan (similar to plexiglass but much stronger). The 4 bolts hold it all together and everything comes apart. If it's just leaking around the seals than all that is needed is a gasket set. Make sure to order the correct replacement material for your model (cork or rubber). Good luck.
